Dead Island 2 is NOT open world

Dead Island 2 is going to be divided into districts, and won't be the big open world zombie experience that fans of the genre had in Dying Light and Dying Light 2. #deadisland2 #deadisland #gaming

Not every game needs to be open world. I’d rather have density than open nothingness that’s just there to be there. Lineage is underrated these days.

This is EXACTLY how the OG games were.

Dead island was same. Which was section to section with sandbox scale of map areas.

It also makes it easier to create a dlc or three-- new districts.

This makes me want it even more. I love the tomb raider and uncharted linear games. They are more action packed and story driven. I love open world as well but sometimes traveling from point a to b slows the game down to much.

Not everything has to be a massive open world, I'm happy they chose quality over quantity

I want more SIngle player/co-op games like this

You guys know that the first games were split up in districts that you needed to travel between right. It was a way that the story moved. You couldn’t get to another district until you did a specifi mission granting you access to that area then you could move freely between them

I personally like it how its got different districts there's still so much you can do between them

AAA studios got people thinking that every game needs to have an empty, lifeless, open world.

The first Dead Island wasn't too bad with the different "sandbox" areas. The resort area was like a mini open-world and it connected to the city via loading screen and I was okay with it. I don't like open-worlds that are too expensive with nothing to see or do.

Honestly, as long as the map is big enough, I don’t really care about open world I would, rather than put more detail that each district, then give us a whole open world for certain places that we might not even go to

that's a good thing, in dead island 1 it was the same,
and it worked greatly

I firmly believe we need more of these types of “district” games and less sandbox games. Each district in dead island 2 was so jam packed with details which each district being so different. It felt very alive..or…um…once alive.

The game itself feels great, especially with friends. My only negatives are the short story, so-so weapon variety/types, and not many enemy types (hopefully will change with potential dlc) but overall I love the level of detail they went through and really hope they continue to add to this game because I can see the potential for a major contender in the game industry with this one

completed the game in 6 hours, finished all the side quests in 10 and that was taking my time. dead island one had me having to explore massive areas looking for easter eggs to fill open space instead of little pockets, hollywood boulevard is like 100 meters in long

I mean…u can more or less travel from district to district on foot without the use of fast travel so it’s not rlly much of a problem

“Dead island ist a open world”

*Insert dead island and dead island riptide*

Just because it’s divided areas doesnt mean its not open world. Games like dark souls are classed as non open world so to put dead island 2 in that same category is wild.
