Dead Island 2 is actually scary...

This was one of the main factors that made Dying Light so damn scary; when it was night the city was nearly pitch black, with zombies and volatiles prowling around in the darkness. It was very intense.

Same happens in dying light 2 when you Apply the dark filter. Makes the game better overall

I play it in HDR, darks are very dark and bright neon lights are extremely bright. Looks so stunning and realistic

Yeah sometimes turning up the brightness or in this case turning it down makes a whole lot of difference and a lot more scarier. 😰

That actually is pretty damn scary i use to walk like 2 blocks into country from town, and it would immediately get dark like this especially very dim lights about 200 feet apart and bunnys going through tall dry grass.

The footstep sound is so satisfying. Finally a good sound design.

actually..lowering the brightness in almost any game doesnt make horror games only scarier. but also makes other games look more realistic when its night in the game

This is the darkness I wish it has in Dying light 2, you can see the moving silhouettes in the darkness instead of just pitch black and over the top contrast

Now that I completed the game, I play without the HUD and lower brightness. It also made the new Haus DLC scarier like that too

I like to imagine, the virus isnt affected by daytime, but does better at night and spreads mores due to the cover of darkness allowing infected to sneak up on people.

Beautiful and scary at the same time. Also I think that devs kinda forgor to add the distant shots and cars sounds, yet the game set in LA, why not?

In the start I was like oh you turned it waay to low, but on more thought this is probably how it would actually look in reality, that's the reaso we havd streetlights, and flashlights, because it is pitchblack, even early morning just when sun rise is starting
