In this video I talk about things I don't own as a sustainable minimalist, specifically in my bathroom. A play on "things I only own one of" trend here on YouTube, I take you through things I do not own, or no longer own when it comes to my bathroom from a perspective of environmental concern for sustainability and minimalism. To me minimalism is about having things in your life that add value. This list might shift as I shift into different life stages, but for now these things do not add value to my life.

Your point about not confusingguests is EXCELLENT! People are more important than décor.

I have a conditioner that I don’t really like but I didn’t want to throw it away. Now I can use it to shave my legs. Thanks, that’s genius

Actually, my dentist and the dentist of my boyfriend both told us, that you don‘t need mouthwash. Nowadays (new scientific research), they teach kids to just brush their teeth, spit the toothpaste/foam out and don‘t rinse. This should be enough. You only need mouthwash, when you have a specific health problem, which your special mouthwash can take care of. I have very sensitive teeth, but switched to this routine a year ago. Never had a problem since.

Exactly what I needed!! Halfway through decluttering my bathroom and this has inspired me to keep purging and simplifying!! Thx Rebecca!

My experience as a nurse is that the cleaner you eat and live the less you smell. Sweat doesn't stink and poop smells are mild and dissipate quickly. I can tell a lot about my patients just by their aromas. Smokers are the worst. There is a place for chemicals... just not in our bodies.

I’m slowly using all my bathroom products
I only wash my hair once a week
I don’t shave
And I only shower every other day.

I also recently discovered (through another influencer) conditioner for shaving my legs and was happy how well it worked. Also the shampoo and conditioner running out the same time was a bonus. Great video 👍

I stopped wearing deodorant as well. For the exact same reasons as you. And I feel the same haha I don’t think I stink and my family members that I’ve asked say I don’t either. It’s like the body regulates itself to not stink SO much. Sure at the end of the day there might be some slight odor... that’s natural, but nothing that a nice shower can’t fix. 😉 Loved your video!

Great video, Rebecca! I agree with everything, except mouthwash. I don't wear makeup at all, so that one was easy. ;) I use a mouthwash with tea tree oil in it, which is good for the health of your teeth and gums. I just use it once a day, at night, except for the rare time I'm going out in the middle of the day and don't have time to brush my teeth - then I just swish a little around in my mouth. I don't wear deodorant either and I find it so freeing! As for perfume...I wish it could be un-invented. Many people are very sensitive to the chemicals in most perfumes, so it's just really inconsiderate to douse yourself with scent before going out in public. Also, many people who wear it seem to think they have to smell it on themselves, but if you can smell it yourself, you have on way too much!!
Love your outtakes!! ♥

PS: Could we maybe have a vlog soon, or another "what I eat in a day"? Absolutely love it when you take us along on your daily adventures! :) Love from Belgium xx

Haha, yes, agree with you on the mouthwash! At least, on a daily/twice a day routine. Because I do have some mouthwash concentrate in a small glas bottle (only 50ml) that I use when I got some slight aches at the gum or bit my cheek while chewing or something like that.

I used to be a huge perfume fanatic, but as I’ve gotten older a lot of perfumes give me headaches and nowadays most places don’t want you to wear perfume at all. I just have a small rollerball perfume I use on my wrist now that has a yummy vanilla scent.

Great video, thank you for lots to think about again! 🙂 I do smell so deodorant is not something I could give up, but I did stop using mouthwash because it ended up making my mouth be more susceptible to sores, instead i use some baking soda in hot water that actually helps keep it healthy. It has a bit of a weird taste but I rather that for a few seconds and know that it keeps my mouth healthy and clean.

I point of mouth wash is anti cavity bu having the flouride from the rinse stay on your teeth overnight, not so much for fresh breath.

The point of mouthwash (for me) is to add another layer of fluoride right before I go to sleep. (This is per my dentist's recommendation.) I'm trying the bite mouthwash tabs, and I'm not a huge fan - they don't crumble into fine enough bits to really dissolve in the water.
Separate thought: I have two shampoos, one for every day and one for after swimming in chlorinated water. It finally occurred to me that while I do want both shampoos, I don't need to keep them both in the shower - it's pretty obvious to me if I've gone swimming and need that clarifying shampoo, so now I keep that one in the cupboard under the sink instead of in the shower.
Separate question: I'm looking for a compostable bamboo (maybe?) toothbrush that doesn't have just the flat bristles. (I tried the plastic yogurt container recycled toothbrushes, and with just flat bristles, it's not enough to keep my teeth clean. My dentist noticed in a negative way, and that was the only thing I changed.) So I want one with wavy bristles, or different levels of bristles, or something like that. Soft bristles. Do you have any recommendations on where to look? I'm a little overwhelmed. Thanks!

Conditioner bar! Genius! So poop stink... We love poopouri. Yes it's plastic but it's just oil and essential oil and I know people that have made it diy. I could never get the ratios right to work as good as the original. You spray the oil in the bowl before you go and it traps the fumes. It's fantastic for our tiny apartment and when we traveled with family holy moly it works! 5 adults pooped in the same toliet one morning and it legit smelled like vanilla and lavender 😆 totally worth it
