How to start commuting by bike - short urban commute

I’m planning on commuting by bike to my university. Gas is expensive in the states right now and my university is 14 minutes away from my house on bike. And my schedule is so tight I haven’t been able to get any exercise because I go from University straight to work. So I’m really excited for this.

Close to all offices have a bathroom/toilet area with running water and soap to clean your hands. If there are no showers, still you can use these not only to clean your hands but also your face, cleaning some sand/dirt/sweat from your face and maybe some more parts. Feeling clean makes me feel so much better.
The other tip is you can use that same bike to make a slight longer trip to visit that supermarket or shop. With the intend to buy just a few things. We Dutch often do that anyways.

Here's how to get started, put some pants on. Put your cycling shoes on. Get on your bike. Ride from point A to point B. there you go. you commuted by bike.

Sadly, my work has gotten very strict about people leaving "clothes and other items" at the location. So I have been working to get a milk crate and a rack in order to get my backpack off to relieve the pressure. Hopefully I can make a small hygiene and travel kit for clothes etc
