It would be good if parking garages in NYC would allow you to lock up your bike there. charge a fee of course. There would be that extra layer of protection of having it indoors and eyes on it.

Bike parking is big but for me, being so close to Boston (literally 5 miles), I need protected bike lanes. Drivers are in far too much of a hurry for me to ever feel comfortable riding on the street. So bike lanes and bike parking.

Yes! Parking is key!

And with those big expensive mezzanines that has been built with the subway station could be used for bike store. Even for a small storage fee. It would just make life much more easier for a lot more people.

One of the biggest things I think about when taking my scooter anywhere is whether I'll be able to safely park it while I take care of whatever I'm doing. It's not always easy to find out ahead of time if there's somewhere I'll be able to lock up safely because google maps isn't always as up to date as I'd like...even in a bigger city like Seattle.

I live close enough to Joplin MO, which I know isn't really that big, that i COULD and quite frequently DO ride my bicycle to... but besides the bicycle lanes on the streets there is absolutely zero public bicycle parking that's safe enough to keep my things from getting stolen here... how do I bring up this need to Joplin City council?

resolve the theft problem. if i could leave my bike in the parking lot of a restraunt like i can my car. & have all the confidence it will be where i parked it + in the same condition i left it. a major portion of those that locally commute to major citys will leave the car behind. bikes some approaching several thousands dollars is just to risky. no body want to support the stolen bike black market. theft is also the reason i don't own a vespa. and at-least those are some what heavy and are hard to move static wise. again for me is the choice to not support the theft black market. i also don't want to be the person retrieving the stolen bike from the thief.

I'd ride more but I live in a car-centric city. I want to ride on the sidewalk cause I feel safe but if I get run over by a car while riding on the side of the road...who's going to pay for my hospital bills and lost wages at work IF I live from the experience? Is there bicycle insurance, like how car drivers have car insurance? Just don't feel safe riding on the roads.

You need to police and local govt that enforce crime and prevent theft

Most businesses in my area do not offer a rack to lock up your bike.

Be wary what you wish for; you've seen the bike forests and giant storage cellars around stations in the Netherlands

Imagine you have every bike barrier solved, except for the car traffic. You wont ride. You have to move.
