LOW$-JUNKYARD 351W-BETTER THAN 5.0L?

FULL BOOSTED RESULTS-LOW $, JUNKYARD 351W FORD, CARB & EFI. We started out with a 1992 junkyard 5.8L EFI motor, added simple carb induction then dyno, then add Edelbrock Top End package, then switch back to RPM II EFI intake, then added 10 psi boost from a Vortech V3 supercharger. Can the junkyard 351 withstand this abuse, and why is this a better idea than running it on a 5.0L 302?

Rich Holdener is WAY underappreciated in my opinion. He does all of the grunt work and posts 100% true unbiased dyno results. This saves us hot rodders who want to build a certain engine to a certain power level from making mistakes in the parts combination or getting stuck with parts you can't return because you purchased the incorrect one for your power goals. And Richard does all of this FOR FREE!! You can't beat that with a stick. THANK YOU RICH!!

5:45 am. Coffee. Watching Richard dyno boosted junk. Perfect.

Yes...I'm a 351w fan! Impressed by Edelbrock package. Like to see Blue oval stuff on your channel. Keep em' coming!!

Those gains with Top end package made me wanna a find a f150 with a 5.8L already in it. Then I saw the price of that package is over $4100

Really enjoyed this video, thanks!

Easy to forget how much potential the 351W has.

The 351W is a scary monster once it’s breathing.

Man, I am blown away that the top end package added 200 HP!! What I would have given to have had that back in the day.

First off - that was awesome. 10lb boost was impressive. Great example of a junkyard budget kick-ass build. The disappoint is like you said - what the results with the boost/carb would have been. Thanks Rich - appreciate your channel 😎

These videos are gold. I think that a lot of people can save a lot of money on their engine builds as well as having realistic expectations of their builds by watching the corresponding videos to the engine they want to build. Well done

These videos are dangerous. Now I want to build a ford as well and I’m a Chevy guy lol. Great videos!

Back in the Day, 1980's I liked to build 351 Windsor Street Boss with 2V Cleveland heads and boy did it make sick power with the canted valves and free flowing exhaust ports :)

At first I wasn't a fan of richard not using film from the actual dyno runs. But the more I watch. The more I appreciate this format. Full of good content. All business. No fat.

That heads cam and intake really took that engine from zero to hero

I got a 88 351W from my friends father. It came out of a tug (airport vehicle) where we worked. It was tired, had a tough life. I'd built a few mild 302's in my day. But my uncle talked me into the extra cubic inches. The swap to get it into my foxbody wasn't even difficult. Motor mounts, headers, etc. Went 30 over, 195 CC Trick flow heads, fresh rebuild. Stock rotating assembly with forged pistons. Lunati hydraulic flat tappet cam, forget what grind and lift. But it was very very streetable. Made power about 1500-6500. I'll never build another 302. 351W Is very much underrated. And the 94 Plus 351w was the hydraulic roller setup, too like he mentioned.

When I bought my first house 15 years ago I needed a truck to remodel my home. Trucks were kinda expensive so I found a 1995 extended econoline van with 5.8L 351W motor. Paid $1800 for it. Thought to myself that as soon as I’m done with remodeling I’ll sell it. Well, I still use it to this day. All these years it served me well and we used it for many trips along California coast and many trips to Lake Tahoe and Nevada. When I got the van it was under 200K and now it’s at 247K. Still runs strong. Even though it has some electrical gremlins, it’s not bad for $1800. Maybe one of these days I’ll do a complete overhaul of the engine. Cheers 🍻

Keep the Ford content coming sir! I'd like to see how the Victor 5.8 manifold stacks up.

Yes, always a Ford guy myself and love seeing different engine combos making power! N/A is what I’ve always done but tempted to go turbo someday
