IS THE 5.3L LS BETTER THAN THE 6.0L? DOES SIZE MATTER? Which LS is Better For Boost? 5.3L VS 6.0? DOES ONE MAKE MORE? Which JUNKYARD displacement is your go-to motor? Can the smaller 5.3L ACTUALLY compete with the larger 6.0L? Is the big motor too fragile OR WILL THE HEAD GASKETS FAIL? Is turbo sizing critical FOR POWER? What about FOR an NA build? HOW DOES THE JUNKYARD 5.3L COMPARE TO THE LARGER JUNKYARD 6.0L WHEN IT COMES TIME FOR BOOST AND WHICH ONE WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

It’s not a 5.3 vs 6.0 question (I think) for most people. It’s a 4L60 vs 4L80 question. It’s almost easier to pick up a 6.0, boost it, and not worry about blowing up the trans.

I’d go with the 6.0 simply because I have one and it was free. Just gotta wait for my wife’s 2008 conversion van to rust off of it. LOL.

Set up a patreon account so we can pay to see you throw a rod on a 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0 would be curious to see how much boost each could take before it blows. And see which comes out on top HP wise!

As much as I like the 6.0, I definitely agree with you that the 5.3, in the daily driven application, would really be the best. Great video thank you for creating it!

Well, you're familiar with my thoughts.

I have 6.0's because I'm paying the same price for them, but otherwise, if it spins, it wins.

For power levels that will make the average person poop on the street, it really doesn't matter. Get a complete one that spins and roll.

I do agree equal or greater power with less boost is always better.

I would rather see a guy doing burnouts with the 5.3 he can get today than saving up for a 6.0 tomorrow, then wind up punting the whole thing on marketplace and never doing a burnout.

With 600+hp most ppl will put it the ditch.

Ruby's 5.3 finally gave up the ghost but only because of the heads. Swap out the head studs and I'd put money she wouldn't have needed Leroy's old 427.

If you're confused, you obviously don't Do it for Dale. Hell yeah Brother!

My plan is still the 6.0 with boost. I believe the higher power number is going to give me a better end number with less boost. Hopefully it will be a little more reliable because of it. I want the ability to turn it all the way and not have to worry about having it come apart on me.

This is by far the best testing and trying different combinations I’ve seen. This is for guys that really understand how to make power and torque from an Ls.and great for beginners.I have watch them all!!5.3 street turbo set ups are my favorites 700 hp on 13 psi is crazy !!!keep the tests

As someone who actually owns a turbo LS in a street truck, you need a lot of chassis/tire for 600hp. I have a 5.3 and 7875 and have considered the 6.0 but I think the extra power down low will just make my non-existent traction worse. I run my setup at 10psi most days because it's easy on my high mileage 5.3 and the truck is still insanely fast.

I'd chose the 6.0, I like more power with less boost. Better for a daily application

Yes I understand. Just thought I'd mention it coz it was overlooked and definitely a deciding factor for somebody deciding which engine to choose. Keep up the good work👍

I've seen you say in multiple videos.... "well if I rerun the big bang I'd do...." with all the info you've gathered I think it's time to do it again. I'd love to watch some more 4.8l stuff too.

Thanks!, great info. Many variables to consider depending on your goals. I went with a 5.3L ~10psi im happy, wasn't going for record breaking power levels. Just a reliable fun car.

I can tell you from a heavy truck point of view it’s hard to beat the 6.0 and 6.2. I was a 5.3 guy for years and years and one day my timing gear broke which took out the motor. I got a 6l at a really good deal and wow what a difference. It was so much nicer to drive out of boost. I was on leave in arkansas when it happened and I had towed my toy behind the tahoe. On the way back home with the 6l I didn’t spoil the turbo near as much just because the 6l had so much more torque to pull hills I didn’t need the boost like the 5.3 did. If all you are doing is racing then MAYBE it doesn’t mater as much. But for daily driving in a heavy 6000lb truck the 6 and 6.2 is WAY better. It has a 6.2 now and a much bigger turbo cause the single tc78 was a tad small on the hot side for the 6.2.

There are 6.0’s all over the yards here in Maryland! Not as plentiful as 5.3’s, but they’re definitely available. Every once in a while you’ll find a gen 4 motor, but people normally snatch them up as soon as the truck gets to the yard. I’m ALL GOOD with the Gen iii baby! They’re rock solid motors

I've never found a channel so informative with real world testing. You got a sub and a like and I'll share your channel to everyone I know

I want to thank u. I just subscribe to your Channel. After watching 3 videos and everyone of them with dyno test . Leaving out any questions . I'm an old motor head. Because of my son. Getting me back into it. Now It's all about the LS . We are building a 5.3 & 6.0 . Thank u for making this easy . With less trial and error like the old school ways
