Isn't it with all plants? Just asking. I remember my grandma telling me that younger plants, berries, etc are, more concentrated vitamins and other benefits they have. The bigger, older plants give energy into growing and benefits with bigger size/age are less.

that's why even though people always insisted that the white tea have lowest caffeine, the reality is white tea is the one that made me can't sleep the most. What I drank, bai Hao yin Zheng, tends to use buds and delicate leaves.

Oxidation draws out more of the caffeine contained in red and black teas too, though roasting and heating can neutralize some of the caffeine effects too. Truly too many different factors to consider.

In spring, there are usually less insects around, right? That would lead to the conclusion that fine summer pickings should have the highest caffeine levels.
Did someone do a comparative study on caffeine levels in different tea types?

Strangely, Ooolongs usually give me a greater buzz than Sheng, for example.
