5 Things I Hate About My Shelby GT500

This is a list of 5 things I dislike about the car. I absolutely love this car but no is perfect. These are a couple things I’m nitpicking.

I've had an 07 500, a 2012 500 and a 2014 500 and one thing that drove me crazy was how often I was at the gas station. But other than that, most of the easy mods which is new fuel injectors, new pulley, new intake, TB and tune will help you beat just about any car on the road. Believe it or not but outside the mods I put on the cars, dealerships would buy it back from me for literally what I bought them for. Such a good deal. Update: one other con is that I got too many speeding tickets and was labeled a habitual offender and got my license taken away for 3 months 😬

Another great video! The tank is acutally 16 gallons...I picked up my 2014 on 4/13 with 979 miles on the odometer and a full tank of gas. The gauge showed that I was full and my range was 310 miles to empty, the car now has 1100 miles on it and the gauge says 182 to empty. There is definitely something going on with your fuel gauge.

MGW shifter makes it 10 times more notchy. 😆 but in a good way

4.10 gears, a shifter and a RAM Hydraulic Clutch Adjuster Kit will make you fall in love with your car all over again!

Throw a set of 4.10 gears in it that will cure your issue with the tall gear ratios in ur trans

The fuel capacity was surprising, compared to the V6 model which gets you a little over 200 miles to empty.😫

i changed almost every single thing you mentioned with my '14 gt500 lol
it's expensive to change the clutch especially, but the rest are at least somewhat easy.

changes the entire car and experience.

I own one as well and brake dust is the Price to pay for for performance…I have tried cleaner pads but removed them because not enough brakes for thé speed of the car! As for the clutch, did a Macleod install but the clutch overheated during a track day; disapointing product that did not even last a summer! I went back to a stock clutch for a lot less money and that was 4 years ago and still Going after numerous drag races on slicks and a couple of Track days! But you are right I don’t like how it engages…

My dad has the exact same gt500 and he says he doesn’t like the clutch either

So the 13/14 GT500 actually gets the best MPG out of any Shelby. The high gearing is what does it. You can get 24 hwy and 18 average. It's also lighter than you think. 07-12 suck fuel and the 2020 gets 14 average if you're lucky.

The clutch is set that way for faster shifting in racing. You do not have to push the clutch farther down to shift. The gas tank is because all Mustangs share the same tank. Ford saves money by having many of the parts common among the same car line.

I guess I have been spoiled here in Germany for the past 6 years, driving in triple digits almost daily. That will end in July 2023 when we are moving back to the US, FL this time. The only thing that is horrible here is the supply chain. I have been waiting for 30+ days for a plastic cooler cap! Even after 6 years, I still get nervous passing the Polizei like they are standing still and they don't come after you. My car is the same blue except mine has a red stripe. I think it looks more orange?

Fix your tune. That might help mpg. I have 705 whp and getting a combined average of 14.4 currently. Not great but a little better than that

I've got a mostly stock 2013 GT500. What mods have you done to get that nice supercharger whine? Mine is very quiet unless WOT, even then still pretty quiet.
