6:21 How to deal with hormones and aging

In this video, we’re going to talk about hormones and aging. Hormones are messages that travel through the blood and tell the body what to do.

As you age, you might end up with low levels of certain hormones including testosterone, estrogen, thyroid hormone, and growth hormone.

Oftentimes, people try hormone replacement therapy to replenish their low levels of hormones, but synthetic hormones carry major risks! Many people believe that bioidentical hormones are a safer alternative, but there are no studies to support this.

In order to properly address low hormone levels, it’s important to look at why your glands have stopped producing the hormone in the first place. Here are 5 reasons why you might have low levels of hormones in your body:

1. Counter hormones like insulin, estrogen, and cortisol nullify and block other hormones.
2. Insulin can increase androgens in women and decrease testosterone in men.
3. Endocrine disruptors come from chemicals in the environment and can block estrogen hormone receptors.
4. Junk food and alcohol cause a fatty liver, limiting the liver’s function. The liver is necessary for the regulation and production of growth hormone as well as the thyroid hormone.
5. Statin drugs affect hormone production because they block the body’s ability to make cholesterol, which is necessary for the production of many hormones in the body.

If you want to regulate your hormones without the use of synthetic hormones, try the following solutions:
•Healthy Keto
•Intermittent fasting
•Cruciferous vegetables
•High-quality glandular supplement

Dr Berg I am a huge fan of your work! But I felt the need to comment on this video . I am a personal trainer and very much into your way of thinking that diet is key in keeping the body and mind healthy. I went through menopause at 46 and it happened suddenly and drastically, I was so exhausted I could barely train and care for my young son. I researched non stop and made sure my diet was excellent for this stage of my life, I kept to low carbs and did intermittent fasting. I still did what exercise I could and I tried all the natural supplements for menopause including adrenal support etc . At one point I felt so bad, anxious, depressed drained that I felt like I didn’t want to live the rest of my life feeling the way I was. The thing that changed everything for me WAS bio identical hormones that were specifically made for me! I now feel back to the person I was before menopause and am able to enjoy my life again, I’m now 51. Blood tests revealed I was producing virtually no oestrogen and I was put on a combination of this, progesterone, and a little testosterone and dhea! I do feel a bit concerned about risks but without taking this my life would be miserable with little quality. I spent a good few years trying the natural route with no joy so I do think that for some people like me this option is actually a life saver . Thank you and look forward to your upcoming videos, you have taught me a lot ! @fifdee

My liver is fine, my diet is healthy and at 47 my estradiol plummeted, my TSH shot up, menopause came on abruptly! I think no matter what it just happens. I wasn't eating junk food, I was eating organic, nothing processed. I wasn't on statins or any drugs at all. I was taking my B vitamins, fish oil, C and D, magnesium. My mom hit menopause at 47 also. I went from feeling good to feeling awful overnight!!! I think we need a video that tells us how to replace these hormones because we NEED them replaced to feel good again!

The gland stops making hormones because of menopause. I don't think men understand what women go through during menopause it's not a few hot flashes it is an ultimate change in your overall body health. The heart the brain the skin sleep etcetera and yes I do all of your supplements intermittent fasting Etc menopause is hell and I'm going on HRT

Dr. Berg i have been on hormones for over 5 years without side effects and frequent blood work shows no negatives. I know the reason why I needed HRT and i feel great and I would recommend anyone to check themselves out with their doc to see if they need it. There are studies done on HRT and its benefits. I must disagree with you here. Enjoy your videos, keep them coming.

It sucks being a woman. I had my hysterectomy about 3 yrs ago. My Dr said my uterus was the worst he had ever seen other than one with cancer. He said my uterus was purple and covered in tumors and my ovaries and tubes were so small that one of them didnt show up on the test. Anyway, I am on natural hormones. I know there are risks but had no choice. Dry skin, hair coming out, bouts of crying spells, night sweats so bad I would wake with puddles of sweat on my body. Had no choice. All these symptoms left with the hormones. But they are the lowest amount which I did request and they do have testosterone. If I forget to take them after a couple of days, symptoms come back. For some woman, suffering is not an option. blessings!

Dr. Uzzi Reiss author of The Natural Super Woman said ha had never had a patient in over 25 years of practice that took bioidentical progesterone & estrogen together that ever got breast cancer. I've taken them for over 20 yrs with no issues.

My side effects of taking BIO identicals= better sleep, calmer disposition, better skin, stronger bones, able to stay cooler in hot temps, stronger muscles (heart is a muscle), but I wouldn't touch pharmaceuticals. I have even read that this type of hormones make those telomeres longer. Oh and i lost weight as well.

So glad you said that. You are not the only person who thinks this way. Barbara Oneill says the exact thing. My natural doctor says DOnt do bio hormones. HRT is not good for us. I dont care who says what. I am in my 50s sure I would love for my periods to stop but I am not taking HRT. I refuse to take it. I am so glad you are the same way I was told by multiple doctors females included.

I had a hysterectomy and my ovaries removed when I was 32 due to endometriosis and ovarian cysts. I was told there was no other treatment at that time. That was 28 years ago and I have been taking oestrogen-only HRT since. I did stop for almost a year once but eventually due to feeling so unwell I started taking them again and the symptoms stopped. Dr Berg you don't include women who have had this procedure. Please could you address this for all the women who have.Thank you.

So, menopause means that these hormones are automatically much lower, so much so that- the heart in women is no longer protected, skin elasticity gone, bones not as strong, and many more factors of not having enough hormones - so, with all that said. How does what you say help these insidious effects in the body?

I remember over 20 years ago, I used to see women come to the hospital clinic for HRT. The process got vilified when a study came out linking it to breast cancer. I think that was a mistake. I’m now entering that stage in my life and will highly consider HRT.
