REM stands for 'Rapid Eye Movement'. REM sleep is one of the four primary stages of sleep: N1, N2, N3, and REM sleep. Your eyes move rapidly back and forth under your closed eyelids 20-25% of the night. REM sleep is associated with vivid and memorable dreaming and memory consolidation.
