Police academy: Basic training

While the police academy is putting increased emphasis on teaching recruits to de-escalate confrontations, the recruits still learn the basics. Here they undergo lessons in handcuffing, searching a suspect, self defense and firearms training.

Let me tell you all a story:

My uncle, Richard Herzog, was a Deputy of the Sheriff's Office of King's County in Washington State.  One day, while running down a thief, he was ordered to NOT use his weapon.  In the ensuing confrontation, he was shot and killed by the dirtbag.  Are there undeserved deaths and harassment at the hands of bad cops? Yes.  Are these dickheads the majority? Absolutely not.  As with any group, there is always the minority that makes the rest of them look bad.  I did not know Richard very well, but it always pisses me off in a special way whenever I see such ignorant, disrespectful disregard for those who work so hard, risk their lives, and sacrifice so much for complete strangers.

I start the 12 Week Police Academy here in Tennessee in four more weeks.... It's been My Dream Career since I was 6 years old; I'm 27 now, and Self Sponsoring myself through to get Certified

I'm starting my physical training now before I finish school so when I apply and hopefully get accepted I'll be ready for the physical training part the rest will just come as time goes on

I was looking this while my nearly five year old child plays beneath me. She didn't react to the shooting noise because she don't know anything about guns and shootings at all. Knowing other kids at her age needs to understand this can be lifethreatening for themselfes or others tears my heart. I'm very happy she can grow up in a safe country.

When she is older she will learn soon enough, her grandpa was a police officer.

I’m a Female, and I wanna be a Police but my dad doesn’t let me, he says you’ll have a shorter life and you can die easily, and he tells me to be a Doctor instead, but, that doesn’t make me happy, when I was 10, my dad used to tell me “work down the path to victory.” Now he doesn’t let me.
