00:00 👁 Maintain strong eye contact (90% of the time) during presentations to convey confidence and credibility. Glance at notes briefly but focus on connecting with the audience.
01:56 😊 Incorporate smiles during presentations to appear relaxed and confident. Smiling enhances the perception of connection and warmth in your communication.
03:52 🕴 Stand with good posture, keeping feet shoulder-width apart, weight on the balls of your feet, and shoulders back. This "ready position" communicates confidence and stability.
04:50 👐 Use hand gestures to add emphasis to your speech. Keep hands in a comfortable "home base" position (loosely together at waist level) and make purposeful gestures to convey confidence.
06:17 ⏸ Pause after sentences and longer pauses after key ideas to regulate pace. Add a small nod during pauses, creating a confident and persuasive impact. Practicing these habits leads to confident public speaking.

I have a presentation in 2 hours and I'm cramming in all of your public speaking anxiety tips and your other tips right now. I can get rid of the butterflies in my stomach feeling though. It's been like this the whole week. But thank you!

The goal should always be honesty. A person who loves truth, spontaneity and creativity will discern that it is all fake despite of how well he came across the audience. It is just a comment. I am not against.

Thank you for this Alex. One question I have: In the 07 Steve Jobs iPhone presentation which you featured in a video as well, he did move back and forth. Can you clarify more about being "planted" vs. walking around like he did? You covered this, but maybe this might be good fodder for a separate video.

I tend to get excited in conversation and use my hands (and arms) a lot. I can only imagine how I'd be in public speaking. It would however depend on the situation 😊 (nods)

Thanks, Alex, great tips!

You're right, video is much different, and results in faster speech, with most people using the speed control to make it even faster and more efficient.

My brain starts derailing if I make eye contact. I'm gonna try crossing them during it.

I agree but it makes me angry because all you are saying is to look; confident, established, , etc. So remember that what you are saying can be used by abusers to have it all together right. They now will know what to do and not to do, to be liked and trusted by people while they are abusing people with theirs lies.
