Just to add to your excellent points, when describing anything that shows progression from left to right, I make sure that I'm gesturing to the audience's left and right. From the speaker's perspective it may seen backwards, but it makes it easier for the audience to follow your story.

very helpful video, I have a speaking part in our christmas play at church standing alone, now I can practice at home and instead of just moving my hands up and down I have practiced letting my hands and arms, one at a time, relating one for behind me for the pasts and the other for the future lifting both up for praising God and lowering them for the meek and lowly, pounding one down for executing justice and lifting both to be said high and lifted up, also moving my body from side to side as a jesture of going and comeing.
