I was actually lucky enough to see these two pieces in person this summer in Vancouver! I finally got to go to a museum to see historical clothing for the first time, and it was SO INCREDIBLE. I was dying the whole time.
We also were told that it’s the last time this dress is gonna be on display. It’s beginning to reach a point where putting it on and taking it off a mannequin and having it displayed is harming the garment too much. 😢
So, if anyone happens to be near Vancouver, and wants to see this dress, or just an incredible collection of fashion from 1700-2000, it’s called “Dressed for History: Why Costume Collections Matter” and it’s at the Museum of Vancouver. I really couldn’t recommend it enough, it’s got some really stunning and unique pieces, and some that have really cool stories attached.
