Really love where you say "Just like Bernadette did..." and everyone here knows exactly what you mean.

I also recently realized with two kids I was living in tshirts and jeans/stretchy pants. While functional, they didn't really inspire me or make me feel like *me*. And I have a massive fabric hoard (it ceased to be a stash with the addition of a stage curtain a few years ago), so I knew I needed to burn through some of my fabric. So I've been making 40s and 50s inspired house dresses to wear around the house and out on errands. I'm also able to use all those buttons I've inherited. With the end goal of the removal of plastic and fast fashion items out of my wardrobe. I loved a bunch of the patterns you're going to use and might have to hunt down a few of them for myself. Can't wait to see you work your magic!

I also have vintage patterns that are definitely not my size and am struggling to grade them. I would love to see how you go about grading yours!

Excited to see how everything turns out! I suspect it’ll be amazing as always!

Don't mind me, frantically taking notes for my own wardrobe overhaul...

I've been living the mom wardrobe life longer than I'd care to admit. You m'dear have just inspired me to work on fixing that <3

Historybounding, yay!! I also loved Bernadette's Edwardian walking skirt, so as my first new item in my Edwardian inspired wardrobe I'm going to have one made. I thrift blouses, and jackets/ blazers(?) I've got.
Good luck on your new wardrobe!

I have managed to score some vintage sewing patterns and I too am not the 1940 size 16. So I m getting through the up grading and learning lots as I go. I just finished a 1950 s swing coat that I am loving the process I did to get it done. Good luck, have fun, sew ya later.

I'm super excited for this! I love watching people build wardrobes that feel representative of them - it's the entire reason I'm passionate about clothing because self-expression and confidence is what fashion should always be about! However, I go through wardrobe crises basically every month because I don't know what represents me (nothing ever feels ~weird~ enough) so I enjoy even more watching people create for themselves and seeing how they go about doing so - basically I'm hype af for the coming content

I can't wait :) I'm just starting my journey to sew my own clothes and have been binge watching all the historical bounding videos I can find. I am so tired of clothes with no pockets, that don't last. Your wardrobe is going to be gorgeous !! I have spent months looking for a good wool cloth that has some plaid patterning. Its got to be out there somewhere...

Ohh, some very lovely pieces here. I hope you can film your progress for us!

I’m from the UK and ‘pants’ are what you wear under your clothes, but it’s not as bad as ‘the bag you wear around your waist’...!

You can scale up that pattern. We believe in you!

The Palace Blue necklace and ring are gorgeous. Beautifully delicate and will work with so many different outfits. All the things. I want to make all the things! Woo hoo! Stashbusting! Rachael Maksy is amazing. The walking skirt style a la Bernadette would look wonderful on you. That heavier fabric will make a fabulous winter coat. I'm going to have to peruse Fabricland more often to see what bargains I can find. Best of luck in your pattern enlarging endeavours. You've got this! Have a lovely day and take care. Thanks for showing us your wardrobe plans.

I cannot wait to learn how you would grade a pattern up <3 my current practice is a monstrous mash up of point grading and slash and spread xD but as a plus sized person I often find it’s not enough to take something out, I also must reproportion it

Marika, I was just rewatching this video and when you said you were going to go for basic colours plus a few accent colours, I remembered that the first time I watched I wanted to make a recommendation and forgot to! So here it is: Daria Andronescu, personal shopper and ethical fashion specialist, has a channel on YouTube where she shows examples of capsule wardrobes in many different styles. She has a specific video about basics where she explains why building a wardrobe including them instead of around them works better. Give it a watch if you have time and are interested! She has changed my perspective entirely. PS: I'm so excited for this series 😘😘😘

Found this video because I'm in the same place! My daughter is 4 now and I'm finally starting to feel like I'm ready to move on from my yoga pants and T-shirt wardrobe and, having found hisotrybounding, I'm planning my wardrobe. I loved hearing your perspective on this and seeing how you've moved forward with this plan over time. Thank you for sharing!

YES! I'm so excited about this. I started this sort of thing for myself two years ago, got more serious last year, and I'm now at the phase for making. I'm also drawn to the 1940s (and early, then late, Edwardian), but for me it's largely workwear. Not only do I do the nursing mum thing (when can I not have to plan for that, please), but I farm. Obviously my wardrobe will be much more 1940s inspired/very working class, which is fine because I'm a raging classist and I can't help it. I can't wait to see what you do!

1. It is the Black Watch tartan. I appreciate that you know that.
2. I also appreciate that you use the terms metre and fabricland. You're speaking my language!
3. I'm excited for your pattern enlarging video. I have a 70s pattern of my moms that I'd like to make, but it's also significantly smaller than me. Horray for being 5'11"!
This is quite inspiring, thanks again!😍
