I did my first knockdown texture a few weeks ago. Last year I had a pro spray our living room. He had a trailer with long hoses. I found out it's important to prime the walls before texture. Also have a big enough c.f.m. compressor. I bought a large portable Makita compressor that works great. Having a second person to help is important if you are doing more than one room to help with filling hopper and clean up. We bought special texture mud. Our texture gun was a spraying mantis and included an air shutoff valve on the handle. Spraying both X and Y directions is important to get an even coating. If you are doing knockdown get the wide plastic blade, not the metal blade. Wait for the mud to dry for a few minutes (10?) before knockdown. Texturing is easy if you have the right equipment.

Thank you for the video. I was just in the process of repairing a ceiling and I just couldn't get the pattern right. It was way too fine. I thinned out my texture more and lowered my air pressure to 30 PSI and everything came out perfect. Thank you very much for the advice.

Great job.
For ceilings the hopper needs the 45 degree elbow. Connects gun metal to the red hopper. The industry is retarded to not inform buyers. Its a plumbing drain elbow. Usually 1 1/2 inch.
Without it the mud keeps flowing back into hopper.

Nice video. I have a question to ask. You showed both a pancake compressor and then a bigger compressor outside the garage. Which did you use? I wonder if a pancake compressor will do the job.
