Three points to suggest: 1. When the texture is BONE DRY - a light prime coat is advisable - preferably an oil based
KILZ spray - because latex paint on bare new texture will liquefy the water based texture. ALSO - 2. That texture comes in water based (where a primer is advisable) OR an oil based texture - which dries much faster and you have to work quickly knocking it down and no need for priming.
3. Often, when you buy these sprays, they can have a weak spray if they are too cool. IT is great to put the can in a pot of HOT tap water to warm it up - keep it in for at least 15 minutes - lifting and shaking the can a few times during the warming process. This really is a fun art!
