Hearing your story about the teenage girl pacing, and you just reassuring that you’re there, when ready. That they’re safe, had me suddenly burst into tears. That’s all I’ve wanted to hear my entire life. And I didn’t realize how much I needed to hear it, until you’ve said it. And I’m 32 years old.

I’m as certain as I can be that I have hypervigilance. While there has been in times in my life it has served me well, it has also caused me (or I allowed it) to destroy relationships, leave me in distress, very angry, etc.. I also believe that because of this I have deveolped a form of OCD or OCPD (over the years) and that also plays a role in my life. I am in therapy now and I did bring both of these things up. I apprecuate this video a lot because I feel very alone with it.

One more comment: I had a really hard time with my anxiety this year when I had to get a lot of dental work done. I felt fight or flight kicking in when I needed to be absolutely still for the dentist to perform. And I thought about my brother, he's very calm and subdued. And I was able to relax. And you guys said, think of your earliest memory of comfort and the one that just came to mind was of my brother staying with me and comforting me in a storm as a kid. WOW! Things all make sense now! And it helps!

You guys are angels, I'm so glad I found this! I plan to tune in to the podcast. "I'm here and you're safe." Positive masculinity for the win! I love your approach with that patient that you detailed. It's nice to be seen and heard, and for people to find ways to see and hear you.

How do I deal with a hypervigilant downstairs neighbor that calls the HOA on me for walking normally in my home? Or accuses me of making noise constantly that is found to be coming from elsewhere?

would a patient who comes in and says "i think i suffer from hyper vigilance" influence your treatment or diagnosis? i have an upcoming appointment and i think i do suffer from this. i know doctors hate when you say "webmd says". idk im just trying to recover from a recent panic attack.

Maybe you could list a time when you actually talk about the subject you're supposed to be talking about. Almost half the video is just jabbering
