I live in Polk County. I have a lot of difficulty in finding a "local" meteorologist that shows anything of what wi.l occur east of I-75. I understand the danger of storm surge but wind and flooding are dangerous too. Channel 10 is one of the few who report about inland areas. Remember, Polk County is where a lot of the coastal evacuees go. Thank you.

First a cat 1 but landing as tropical storm. Then a cat 2 but landing as cat 1. And here we are, a cat 5. Every day it ratchets up. Why did models seem so confident in weakening and not see it ever getting to cat 5? I understand there are many variables at play, here. Fascinating science. I’m just trying to give my mom good info. She lives in Clearwater.

We had to leave our 3 huskies and 2 kitties. Unfortunately our elderly neighbors needed to be evacuated and we had to make a very tough decision. We left food and water. Pray for our furries!

grands and greatgrands just above tampa..Gridlock on highways.airlines and hotels price gouging AND NO GAS available in their area...Havent slept all night myself..here in Texas and all i can do is PRAY...Ive tried to get them to LEAVE

I hate to be cynical, but it's almost like the meteorologists want Tampa to be smacked right in the middle.

PRAYERS FOR FLORIDA. Can you imagine the horror if you had to evacuate and you have an electric vehicle? At some point, the entire route would be at a stand still with vehicles that ran out of power. People would be in more danger riding out the storm in their vehicle than if they had just stayed home.
