There is. VNE SPEED for every flying thing. This case we know 48 mph as a ground speed. Nobody knows the calibrated aorspeed.

Trimmed all the way out with full speed bar at low altitude. Not for the faint of heart. This was horrific. :( At least he is recovering and will be back in the air soon.

He did not have either of his hands on the controls while he was flying.... which ment he was incapable of doing anything to recover from his chute malfunctioning. This is why you always keep control of your aircraft. Had he been holding the controls it may never have happend or he could have atleast attempted to regain control. He should have had a reserve chute as well. This is a perfect example of how complacency can get your injured or killed. He should not have been holding his phone.

Can't help but to respond to comments. First not having hands on controls was not the issue. Second having phone in hand was not the issue. The issue was pushing a wing, not kite and not glider, to it's limit less than 100 ft off the ground. Hand on the controls or not there is no time to recover. If he would have done this at 1000 ft or higher the wing would have likely recovered. He also would have enough altitude to deploy a reserve but he was not carrying one. The issue was pushing the limits at low altitude and with no reserve.

If your going to criticize, at least know what the hell your talking about so it's constructive. He does a follow up video acknowledging all his errors.
