Zippo Insert Arc Review

I like this Zippo Arc insert. It is pretty durable, and as long as you have the ability to charge something via USB, you have a lighter without the need for any fuel!

It's a good novelty, or maybe nice to keep in the glove box for emergencies, but I'm going back to my standard Zippo for every day use . You have to work to get a clean light on a cigarette .

Since the failure of Zippo Blu and Blu 2, Zippo decided to get their act together and came back with a vengeance. Zippo created the single piezo jet flame, then the double piezo jet flame insert and they work flawlessly. I've also just ordered the plasma Zippo Arc. Its nice to see Zippo keeping up with the trend. The Zippo Blu failed primarily because a jet flame nozzle has to be kept very clean but it was a flint operated mechanism! All those burned flint particles soon clogged it all up, plus the weird push down on the flint wheel as well as push down on the ignite button to operate it didn't exactly work smoothly if at all in some cases. Bad design from a project manager who must have been high on weed at the time.

I question why they used the double tap as a safety mechanism as opposed to the spring latch for the zippo itself. Assuming its primary use case is that of an insert, why not connect the safety to the lid latch?

I got mine free with marlboro points, I put that in my zippo that I also got with marlboro points ( yes I have others) and it seems to work okay, I like that it's windproof, rechargeable and still has the look and feel of a refillable zippo, I don't mind the double click to light, I do however find myself taking longer to light a cig with this vs. a zippo with the original refillable insert. overall not a bad deal as I got mine for free.

I have a Zippo lighter that I bought 1 year ago, I love the design with the Camel logo, but the fluid spoils the cigarrete flavor... I liked this plasma alternative, I will buy it to replace the fluid lighter.

Idk if anyone had said it yet but, you can use gasoline in a zippo. In WW2 soldiers would dangle inserts on a string into a jug of fuel or the gas tanks of vehicles and they're the reason why zippo is still thought to be the God of all lighters. However, although it's fine to use gas don't do it unless you have to because if leaded petrol were to be ignited in a zippo it would release toxic vapors and kill you, only use unleaded. Also, even though this should be common knowledge, never get your flints wet with fuel or else you'll lose a hand. To summarize, yes you can use gasoline as long it isn't unleaded but if you have access to lighter fluid just use that.

Ugh, Bic is just awful in general.

I'd certainly love one of these as the blue flame looks pretty awesome. Though I do prefer the standard fuel using Zippos.

Sadly mine won't f-in charge. Just charges with blue light on for 10 seconds then shuts off. Unplug, plug back in, comes on for a minute. Then shuts off. Ughh

I've tried kerosene and isopropyl alcohol for the fluid inserts. It will work, but, I found it finicky. I'd recommend keeping at least two inserts if you still want to use lighter fluid, I ended up replacing the wick and rayon afterwards for lighter fluid.
