So if I push a class 1 lever down and the object goes up is that not considered work? The video says the object must go in the same direction as the force.

What if I use a pulley to make an object move? The direction of the applied force is different from the movement of the object. Does that mean that no work is being done?

which of the following definitions is correct:

1. work is the *action* of applying a force to an object which causes it to move over a distance in the direction of the force.

2. work is the *result of the action* of applying a force to an object which causes it to move over a distance in the direction of the force.

basically, what i'm asking is whether or not work is the action itself, or the _result_ of the action.
