New cards are around the corner. They only have the same price as your soul and internal organs.

Nvidia not only has ruined the high end GPU market by pricing them the same as a used car, but now with the rumored 5060 and 5070 only having 8gb and 12gb VRAM they're also attempting to destroy the mid-range in order to FORCE people to go into a higher tier.
Absolutely cannot stand that company.

AMD's GPU division needs to get their shit straight because without them things are gonna only get worse. Or Intel needs to come out swinging one.
Edit- well this exploded haha

I have a different take. The US puts tariffs on electronics. Nvidia rolls out a more expensive line of 50 series cards and curtail production of 40 series units. AMD will roll out mid range cards and overprice everything. 40 series cards disappear quickly and used prices go up. I'm not optimistic on the near future.

Why play games when you can wait 10 years to never play games

I miss the days when the GTX 1060 was similar performance to the GTX 980

Nvidia, their slogan should be, the more you buy the more you pay (because if you keep buying they will keep increasing the prices)

Waiting for new generation never work(last couple years atleast)....There will be scalpers and shortages at same time. Best strategy is skip new generations and buys only refreshes like 4070TI super/4080super. They offer almost always better value + there are no shortages and scalpers.

6:23 - you know nVidia's 4090 pricing is terrible when the "30% discount" of $1200 is exactly the same as the 25% discount of $1200.

NVIDIA. The way you're meant to be played.

i feel like it's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation. if the leaks on the 5000 series cards turn out to be unfounded, they'll be out of stock and scalped constantly. if they don't and the MSRP is an absurd premium, the 4000 series is going to be out of stock and scalped constantly. either way, you're not upgrading unless you have the time to watch their storefront listings like a hawk.

i would say, if you can, upgrade now. you can at least sell your card later in both scenarios and have an up-to-date gaming experience while you wait for the fire to shrink.

Bold of you to assume you will actually be able to buy the new cards for the new inflated MSRP until many months after launch. Nvidia has zero incentive to even try to be competitive at the high end this gen with AMD out of the picture. Plus with Trump talking tariffs (and China specifically) and the US being a massive economy, who knows how that will impact the global market for electronics.

I have seen the RX 7900 XT on sale for as low as 566 USD (equivalent in CAD), and I have seen the RX 7800 XT on sale for an astonishing 370 USD (in the US), both just in the past few days.

Whatever the next generation brings, I don't think we'll be getting ANYTHING which can beat the value of a 370 dollar RX 7800 XT, at least not at any point in the next year.

If we do see something that's a better value than that in the next year from the next generation, I'll be extremely impressed. If you live in the US, that's all the more reason to not worry too much about how good of a deal the next gen cards might be, because there's a good chance tariffs are going to add a lot to next-gen pricing, if not right away, then before the end of next year. Of course, if the US government realizes at the last minute what a terrible idea that would be, then they may well cancel the plans for the tariffs.

I learned from 2020. I am not having my next gpu squandered by scalpers. I don't game on 4k or anything, I just needed an upgrade from my RX 5700 XT in 1440p games. My RX 7800XT is coming tomorrow, lol. The pool of 7900 GREs had run dry in my area

TL;DR in the last 5 years - do not buy GPU if you are not desperate...

Skip new and buy used. Just bought a Asrock taichi 7900XTX for $650 on FB MP. I only buy cards that I can see working in person. 24 GB ram and this level of rastorization will not be priced matched for a couple of generations.

Week ago i have bulit a new rig with 9800X3D and just bought 4080 Super. Since im coming from 3060 laptop i'm blown away by the performance.

the premise of the video is kind of flawed, is based on the assumption that a) the 50x0 will have the same MSRP than the 40x0 and b) that you will be able to get them at that price at launch. I fear that's not realistic at all. Also, it doesn't consider that if you want to go 16 Gb, probably you will have to get the 5080 (probably at a ridiculous price)... meanwhile, the production of the 4070+ series has already stopped

With the results of the USA election and announcement of Trump's foreign policy (Tariffs, Tariffs, Tariffs) I'm not sure waiting is as good an idea as prices could jump by from 20% to 60% unless the electronics industry is given an exemption/time extension.
