I love the complexity of Kylo/Ben's character. He is definitely one of the reasons why I actually really enjoy the sequels. He is meant to be the antagonist of the three films, and yet he can barely convince even himself that he is committed to the dark side. He is so full of conflict, and as you noted, it only intensifies once he kills his father

All he needed was his grandfather appearing and telling him "dude, you have it all wrong"
He is a ghost Force, he could have

The sad truth is before his darkside training, Luke likely forbid Ben from ever seeing his parents again and told him he needed to rid himself of his attachment to them to become a “true Jedi”. Luke essentially served Ben to Snoke and Palpatine on a silver platter which is why he is so distraught in TLJ. Of course Luke meant well, but as Ahsoka said “sometimes the right reasons have the wrong consequences.”

Yes it was to prove his dedication but it was intended to transcend him deeper into the dark side. A perfect move for a Sith Lord. But unfortunately kylo has not been one hundred percent honest with everyone when it comes to his dedication to their cause. He was still very much attached to things not even a Jedi should be attached to. And hiding the fracture that it caused became difficult especially without his helmet to hide his emotions. Snoke knew is. That's the very reason he made him remove his helmet. And even then kylos manipulation cost snoke and Palpatine their life. I really like the sequels and I hope they get more love in the future years to come

I may not be a sequels fan but I love how complex Kylo/Ben is as a character

I get that this summary is for people with a basic understanding to get them to delve a little deeper but there is one crucial point missing.
Kylo Ren idolized Vader. Everything about Vader; Kylo tried to emulate but couldn’t. He wasn’t a slave, he didn’t have a bad life. So when he tries to sever ties that bonded him he fails. Anakin would never strike against his mother and Kylo knows and emulated that. By the time “Vader” started breaking apprentices he was already emerged in the dark side not just flirting with it. Anakin by his own admission was willing and eager to kill Sidious as soon as he finished Obi Wan. Both father like figures to an immaculate conception via dark side ritual aka Ani. Kylo kills Han but it doesn’t help him focus/grow in the dark side at all because he didn’t even believe in the act. He had to damn near manipulate his Han into it. Kylo could not turn Rey because of this and his inner conflict prevented growth in the dark side. Kylo is a better Jedi than sith. As well as Anakin if he had remained in the temple.

I Love Kylo Ren / Ben Solo and Adam Driver Was the Perfect Actor for the Role However, the Skywalkers were always destroyed by the one man who just wanted nothing but power Kylo Ren & Darth Vader are so alike in many ways they were both created by the devil seduced and lost their family and it was only because Palpatine made sure he wanted to be Emperor forever and if you put it that way they both suffered a great loss to be by Palpatine's side Vader lost his wife and Ren lost that only thing that ever believed in him and saw the good in him was his own parents In all of SW Kylo Ren & Darth Vader are the people who suffer and lose the most and it's because of one person 💔

Tbh if the Skywalker-Solo family had lived during the Sith Empire then I highly doubt they would have wanted to recruit Ben. He just had too strong a conscience to join their ranks, as we saw when he failed this very important test. Anyone who would make a good Sith has to have a certain level of sociopathy before they even start their training, or they just end up like Ben did after killing Han.

He knew he had to kill Han but didn’t think he could

In the end, it was Disney who tried even harder than Kylo to destroy the past

That’s not it. There’s psychology here. He needed his fathers safety to fulfill his mission

Poe and Kylo are the only good characters from the sequels

Snoke should have been the main standalone antagonist, not Palpatine.

You should make a reel about why rey chose the name skywalker. I feel like you'll take that more seriously than most yourubers that talk about star wars... for obviosu reasons

I always thought it had something to do with Han also having seen the map to Luke.

I vividly remember thinking "This film sucks, but give it 10 years and the kids who grew up with it will probably look back fondly at it"

I think Kylo knew he was good inside and killed Han to make it look like he was completing his dark journey but then could surprise them which he did.
