Taiwanese American here. This is one of the most intellectually lazy and poorly made history videos ever. You jump from a Portuguese colony to the Chinese Civil War??? WTF?? You’ve missed the most pivotal moments in Taiwanese history. Its like starting with the founding of Jamestown colony in Virginia and then the next scene is the US entering WWI and calling that a History of America 😂

Taiwan was permanently ceded to Japan. After the United States defeated Japan, it gave the Taiwanese people future autonomy. In order to get rid of troubles in Asia, the United States temporarily let the exiled Chiang Kai-shek govern。
The Qing Dynasty only knew part of Western Taiwan, and the rest of the area was unknown, not to mention that the Qing Dynasty was not China. Taiwan has never been ruled by China anyway

I've never understood how the USA could make a trade embargo on a small nation of Cuba and then willingly engage in business with another communist country which has direct ties with USSR and North Korea.
Foreign interests seem to be very short sighted, if taking the historical data into account. Madness.
