A remote island faced many annexations from its bigger neighbors and sea faring European colonialists in its past. Decade of effort to regain its own unique identity by present government had managed to take a slight foothold internationally and internally is quite an encouraging sign. Formosa island is practically a life saving straw for a defeated ROC army, without it, ROC s at end of its existence after a civil war.

Trivia note: The U.S. game show The Amazing Race has been on for 36 Seasons, & yet they have traveled to Taiwan for just 2 of them; Season 12 & Season 19 (which aired back in 2011).

Japan had fully incorporated Formosa in to its territory, That's why it pushed for Nipponization of the Formosans. At the San Francisco Peace Treaty, Japan renounced all claims over Formosa, Pescadores and Spratley's without naming a receiver. Thus leaving Taiwan's sovereignty to its residents instead of the governing body called the Republic of China. This is similar to the territories of West Bank and Gaza Strip where Israel administers but does not own.

Quite unexpected, but I get why you made a video on Taiwan: you treat it the same way as the two Koreas.

One thing is true: Taiwan has never been part of the PRC and has never been under CCP control. And even if the PLA invades victory is not guaranteed. The PLA has no actual military experience with an amphibian operation and its navy has very limited experience. Apart from the border conflict with the USSR the last time the PLA fought in an actual war was its invasion of Vietnam in 1979 and that didn’t go so well.

Conclusion: Taiwan is a chess being for sale all the time
it is used by either China&US to counterbalance each other's forces
In these conflicts, i never had real freedom of being safe in taiwan.

As a Taiwanese, I think the description of this video is abbreviated but quite accurate.

As you can see, Taiwan has been oppressed and exploit by different for foreign powers for centuries.
Dutch, Spanish, Japanese, and of course Chinese, they shaped Taiwan’s cultural diversity, created a unique self-identity as Taiwanese.

It's time for us to rebuild our own country, a TRULY independent country called TAIWAN aka Formosa
Instead of some thing like fake china or part of CCP.
We all hope that goal can be achieved as soon as possible.

Somehow you glossed over the. US-ROC Mutusl Defense Treaty of 1954, its abrogation under Carter and the present ambiguous situation re: US. defense of Taiwan. Generally speaking, it is the Nixon-Kissinger policy of 1971 re: “one China” that applies, without any clear commitment to defend the ROC. We should remember that the ROC tied down most of the Japanese army between 1941 and 1945. Chiang refused to surrender. Had he done so, the Pacific War might have turned out differently. This should be taken seriously by future US leaders.

You lost one thing important why Taiwan doesn't belone to China now, it's because when KMT was still in china, they established a country called "republic of China", and then moved to Taiwan, and that is the official name of Taiwan right now

Taiwan is in the same political situation as South Korea. Both are still in unresolved civil wars.
