As a prior (2014-2019) WFM employee, one of the perks to inventory night was they'd just let us have tons of the bakery items normally to be discarded once it's out of the daily freshness. (Some stores also gave various freebies in the break room almost daily if you weren't picky.) Also hope you like pies if you worked Thanksgiving or the days after.

Whole Foods use to make the most delicious chocolate bread but they no longer make it. It was made close to Christmas and I would buy 4 freeze 2 give 1 to my daughter and then eat one. They were really delicious.

They used to bake a lot of the items fresh before Amazon bought Whole Foods. I remember one time years ago I bought a bakery item and they said they had to bake it off fresh the next day and they didn’t have anymore in stock. Years later I go and buy “the same” item and ask and they said they don’t bake it anymore, another cake I bought the lady told me they receive a huge frozen slab of it then thaw it and serve it.

Last two times I bought a Whole Foods baguette, it was day old (at least). Not gonna waste my calories on old bread.

I'm allergic to lots of things. You'd think that Whole Foods would care. They don't give a damn. They don't. Their barkery section doesn't care. If you want to know what's in the food--they'll give you a book. I've given up going to Whole Foods for the foods I can eat. I get better care from my local Kroger brand. At least, Kroger doesn't pretend to care while stocking sections that should be safe to me with lots of food I can't eat.
For more detail, I want just one thing in the bakery (either baked in house or delivered). Given that they don't care about my dietary issues, Whole Foods is the last store I think about when I have a craving. They're dead last. And shame on them for proclaiming that they're the store who cares. They don't.

Whole Foods is like Starbucks. There’s good stuff but most of it is mediocre
