So what’s the deal with quinoa… and is it a superfood — or a super-fad?

Quinoa has been touted for a while now as a “superfood”. But the truth is quinoa is filled with dangerous lectins and is far from super – especially when it comes to supporting your health.

Dietary lectins can be found in all sorts of so-called “health” foods. You’ll find lectins in everything from raw kidney beans to white rice, from wheat germ to processed foods like sourdough bread. Even your favorite dairy products can contain lectins if the animals that produce the milk you drink consume lectin-rich feed. And the best thing to do when you come across lectin-rich foods like quinoa is to avoid them.

How nice that he also considered an aspect of economy in developing countries... it's not common to hear almost any info about food, but when it's presented from 360 degree it's awesome. Thank you!

Thank you, thank you I'm very grateful for you helth advise. In 3 months I droped from 198 to170 pounds lost 28 pounds, and I wasn't very strict.Of course no soda, sugar, flour and lectins . I don't exercise. My live stale - no activity at all. I'm trucker.Once again thank you very much, keep the good work.

I have always eaten pomagranites since I was a child. I'm glad to know that they are not a "SUPER FAD"! I would like to hear more with this series.

Soak it and rinse it and cook it slowly and the gut issues associated with consuming quinoa are gone for most people

I was told as long you keep your carb count balanced you could a little Quinoa.

I like the fact it is gluten free. It does have a good amount of fiber. 5 Grams is pretty good I think as you eat in moderation. To get rid of lectins if you can it should okay.

Dr. G, why did you not mention that soaking and pressure cooking can be used to cook the lectins out of quinoa? Has something changed?

I Would love to hear Dr Gundry's professional opinion on below if they are superfad or superfood because some youtubers praise and some not ;Lentils, Chickpea, Organic Soybeans, Tofu, Raw Cocoa powder, Oats, Buckwheat, Black Rice, Black Beans, White Beans
