SuperFood or SuperFad is Dr. Gundry's new YouTube series where he dives into the wild world of food and diet trends to determine the truth on popular foods. On today’s episode, I’m here to talk about one of my favorite resistant starches — Sweet potatoes
They’re incredibly rich in vitamins A and C, plus they’ve got a good portion of your daily b-vitamins. And the darker sweet potatoes, like the rich orange ones, and those fantastic Japanese purple ones, are just LOADED in healthy-promoting polyphenols.

I just love eating mashed yams mixed with extra virgin olive oil, salt, and fresh crushed garlic, with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice..made from scratch in my kitchen. It's so tasty and filling and healthy.

I love this. As someone from a family with deep southern roots, I grew up on sweet potatoes. I always have them around.

Dr Grundy, few weeks ago I purchased my first pressure cooker, ( I live in North Africa, they cost a fortune here ) and I started using it cooking the food that I crave so much, and that is beans or chickpeas.. and you’re absolutely right that cooking theses legumes after soaking them overnight, in a pressure cooker on low fire for about an hour make them super buttery in texture and taste absolutely great as you advised us before. And feel them just healthier this way. Thank you for your teaching and love that is making a difference for all who listen to you. 🙏

Interesting. For the longest time now I’ve been baking a bunch of them on Sunday night and throwing them in the fridge for a quick bake during the week. Didn’t know I was getting the most out of them by doing that.

Dr Gundry I follow your advise fair;y closely. I really appreciate individuals that communicate intelligently especially regarding your science based diet advise. I discovered you years ago when I was trying to address my serious hypertension problem, I was not over weight. I just want to thank you for enabling me to resolve that serious problem.

I just got done, 5 minutes ago, making your "creamy sweet potatoe soup" again. In the refrigerator, it will go for a day before I start eating it to maximize the benefits.

This is great news. I was worried all the sweet and purple potatoes growing in my front yard would be a problem for my health. I prefer sweet potatoes and I know they are great source of carbs that gives us energy longer than white potatoes carbs.

Blood oranges! They are the only thing that quickly heals my son's chronic canker sores. I have read a few articles on possible medicines being made with blood oranges. I would love to hear your thoughts on this super food and what makes them different from other oranges.

Thanks for all the great information you provide, it has definitely transformed my life. Would you talked about plantains? I seem to get an allergic reaction to them.

Yaay thanks Dr. Gundry I love sweet potatoes. I'm glad this is on your list.
Can you do a video on cabbage. I know organic is better, but does it make a difference with cabbage.

If I love eating sweet potatoes, but I am on a low carb diet, how much sweet potatoes should I ingest each day? (or should only ingest half?). I also make sweet potato steak fries, in the oven with olive oil, rosemary, and salt & pepper to taste. The purple yams helped me lose the weight (I am obese). I also boil them in water. Depending on the size and shape will determine cooking time. I always buy the Un-desirable shapes (because it's cheaper), which are fat bulky one. The much nicer ones are slender, and long tapered types with smooth undamaged skins
