Do You Love Yourself? Like, at all…?

I heard somewhere “you are your own soulmate” and it resonated with me. My boyfriend died two years ago and I have struggled with that grief as well as the thoughts of “what if I end up alone now?” And I have begun to come to terms with the fact that I am my person. I laugh at my jokes and I enjoy my own company and I am always the one person that will be there for me.

I still want to find love again at some point, but I am at peace with being single. Because that person who comes into my life is going to have to treat me how I treat me.

This is a very human way to view love. Centered in self & not just self, but specifically self image.

Including subtle notes of the subjugation as well as reduction of our partners as mere status symbols. It’s almost the entire recipe for the exaltation of our fallen natures, which we seem to excel at as a species. Makes me think of why God said that the wisdom of this world is foolishness to Him. This reminds me the way we view love is so vastly different than the way our Creator does.

If we’re being honest, we’re all guilty of viewing love through the framework of self and that’s likely why we struggle so much with it. Not just giving it, but receiving it.

I wonder if we began as a collective to view who we choose to love as a symbol or indicator of our capacity/will to love rather than a covert assessment our self rating system, if we wouldn’t as a matter of course cease to feel the need to silently or subconsciously burden our partners with the task to be the measuring stick for our own self worth.

In short, this is probably a good introduction into self exploration but we probably shouldn’t set up camp here because it has the potential overtime to diminish the true nature of love we all hunger to experience, which is love without pause or reason. Love in its truest form.

I love myself because God loved me first. He is my partner in Spirit and I trust He will entrust me with a physical partner in due time. Until then I am ever-working on my relationship with him.

I didnt choose her my buddy ser us up together and shes been the biggest blessing in my life since. I dont deserve her shes better than me in every way. Ive done a lot of heinous things in my past things im jot proud of that ill carry with me to ny grave but she loves me all the same. I dont understand it but im so thankful for her. I owe that buddy that inteoduced us my entire world.
