Bishop Barron and Fr. Mike Schmitz Interview (2021 Good News Conference)

Friends, recently I had the privilege of speaking with Fr. Mike Schmitz, the host of the popular podcast “The Bible in a Year” and a contributor at @AscensionPresents. We cover a variety of topics in our conversation, including our vocation stories, our early starts to our YouTube content, our favorite movies, arguing on social media, and much more. We share what inspired us to take creative new approaches to the Bible, and how the success of these projects reveals a hunger for a deeper understanding of Scripture.

Watching Bishop Barron videos made me decide finally to become a Catholic. After interruption by Covid pandemic, I will be confirmed this Easter. Currently listening to Fr Mike's podcast, started on 1 January 2022. So lovely, strong, deep, both of you. I am 64, saved by grace.

I love how they talked about the stickiness of the internet! I had left the Catholic church and joined an evangelical church with no intention of coming back. I found the Bible Project and went through their bible in a year and learned so much from their podcasts and ministry. They are truly godly men! Well, somehow, I came across Bishop Baron and loved his ability to communicate the richness of the intellectual history of the church and the existence of God, etc. And then Fr Mike and his exuberant love for the Lord spoke to me. All the while the Holy Spirit was inviting me back into full communion and I realized that I needed the grace of Body of Christ to live my mission here! So I returned! PRAISE God! And thank you for these two men.

I’m Orthodox but Bp. Barron is one of the best Christian apologists and thinkers in the apostolic tradition today and Fr. Schmitz is doing a holy work bringing the Gospel to the youth. May the Lord hasten the day Catholic and Orthodox are united in the Eucharist again 🙏🏻

For me my parents have been the most wonderful influence added with my covent school by Franciscan nuns and teachers who loved the faith ...who instilled in me the love for my faith despite every thing to tell me other wise

The two principal actors who stregnthen my Faith in Catholicism. You two made me believe in the real presence of Jesus in the eucharist. Father Mike was like John 6, and Bishop Baron solidifies the belief with the Transformative nature of the world. I used to see it as a symbol. when I realized it was actually Jesus, I ran to the eucharist as though the holy our was my oxygen supply. God bless you two. Much love from Cameroon
