Thank you! I've been trying to figure out how to get Windows File Explorer to show my NAS under Network. Your tutorial on "WS-Discovery" under Advanced settings saved the day!

So helpful! my Synology NAS files were being uploaded to my pc taking up so much space this allowed me to access it right from the NAS hard drive instead of me having to download it to my PC. Thanks again.

SMB was enabled, but I had to set it to SMB2 in the advanced settings. Now it works like a charm!

Is there an advantage of using one method over the other, i.e., mapping the shared folder on the NAS as a network drive on my PC vs. clicking on the NAS icon in the Network?

Could this work with a cell phone if there is no internet connected on the NAS or cell phone? It would just connect to the router network.

Hello we have a shared folder saved in Synology.. The shared folder itself can be accessed and can open all type of files but apparently for some unknown reason one of our computer can no longer open some file types such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint (but before it can).. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this issue? Thank you..

Hi, I have a Synology DS220+ with 2 * 4TB drives setup as SHR (with data protection) My understanding is I have access to drive 1 to store data and drive 2 is a mirror of drive 1, I can see drive 1 in windows explorer, but my question is how can I see the data on drive 2 (the mirrored drive), how do I know my data is being backed up to the second drive?

Is Enable Bonjour service discovery for MAC computers only? I have a windows 7 computer that sees the Diskstation and all its
folders in File Explorer. I also have a Windows 10 Pro Laptop that only see some of the folders withing DiskStation. If I click
Open in a New Window in File Explorer it then shows all the folders. In Network Windows Sharing I have the same settings as my
100% working Windows 7. Any thoughts why I have this issue with Windows 10 Pro? The windows 10 Pro is on WiFi and the Windows 7 is connected via Ethernet.

Hi! Is it possible to connect remotely using file explorer? I would like to have the folder icon on the desktop even when I am not connected to the same local network. Thanks for the help!

I use windows 10. Had trouble connecting. Turns out, you have to specify the synology diskstation name in the popup. Mine is named SYNDS920 so for the username I had to use SYNDS920\USERNAME and then the password and it connects just fine.
