I have been teaching an effortless golf swing since 1991. Here is a new drill I thought of to help you loosen up. Being loose is a big part of learning and effortless golf swing so be sure to give this a try.

So many people marvel at someone with an effortless golf swing yet they never copy what that person is doing. If you like the look of that easy golf swing and you see the person hitting great shots why would you try to hit the ball as hard as you can. In no way would that get you that effortless swing.

This drill give you the loose feeling you need in your arms for this easy type of swing. This is a new and different feeling so you first need to know what it even feels like then you need to get used to it. So if this effortless golf swing drill will help you get the feeling then please do it as much as you can. If so, this feeling will be in your swing allowing you to stop hitting hard and play effortless golf.

Paul!!! I know you've not been on here in a couple months, but I had to come to this very video and send you a message. I have, literally, been trying to get a loose armed/wrist golf swing for over a year. It didn't take too long for me to figure it out with my irons/wedges, because they're heavy clubs and were easy to just relax and let the momentum swing it through. However, my driver has been a massive disappointment to me. I could do the loose armed practice swing, all day long, and look like Rory doing it. However, I would step over the ball and then the mental block would kick in and I was chicken winging it and maybe driving the ball 215 to 220 in total. I tried everything you suggested on many of your videos (pumping the arms, swinging the club in my garage for weeks, laying the club on the back of my neck to relax my arms, etc.). However, I came across this video last night and went to the range this morning thinking, "Well, it probably won't work, but we'll see." I was blown away at how much this particular mental trigger worked for me. I never looked at the ball and stayed staring at the target thinking it was a pitcher. Then, as I started the backswing, I coupled this video with the "paint brush" thing you mentioned in another video. I looked down as I started the backswing, and was completely loose through the entire swing. I was driving the ball 250 give or take. I am going to stick with this for a while and let it sink in. All these tips you give have the big picture of keeping your hands and arms out of the swing. I can do that most of the time. You gave me my "missing link" of getting the hip turn started on the downswing right before the arms even start to fall. And this tip refreshes that feeling because, in baseball, just as the pitcher releases the ball, your left leg lifts and your weight starts turning into the pitch. A very cool analogy and very helpful. I'm almost 85 and have a 20 index but shot 79 yesterday from the front tees. This swing thought made it possible. Thanks for all the help!

I watched this video yesterday Paul & thought i'd try it on course as im having lots of issues with my balance since getting nerve damage in my left foot. I struggle with a reverse pivot, which leads to huge inconsistencies in both direction of the ball and contact.
Yet I tried this simple visualisation on course yesterday and for the first time in years I began flushing irons, fairway woods and my driver. I honestly couldnt believe it. Amazing tip. Thank you so much

I had my first lesson today and my instructor told me im way too tense and stiff so i wanted to do some research and improve my swing before my next lesson and i came across your video. Ill give it a try tomorrow hopefully itll work for me and i can impress my instructor next session. 😃😁

Another in a great series of helpful, doable golf tips from Paul Wilson. I’ve been doing the corner of the eye drill at the top of the backswing like you suggested a week or so ago Paul and have regained 20-30 yds with every stick in the bag. In fact my 60 yr old golf partners have suggested that this 72 yr old move back a tee box from the senior tees

Your arms will be like jello and your wrists will be loose. That softball idea is really a fantastic one and it’s fun because it increases our hope. By not spending too much time looking at the ball it loosens us up. Wow. Breakthrough after breakthrough. Thank you Paul

One of Paul's best yet....I usually hit it straight so hooks and slices are not my problem but distance is. Guys my age (78) that outdrive me always have the weight shift + the "loose" wrist "snap". That's been my problem for many years and I'll keep trying to "get" it but so far it's not happened as I still try to "muscle" it too many times. Hopefully with more practice, it'll happen!
