For those wondering— the PS5 is pretty noisy when you insert the disc, but gets quiet during playback.

I’ve been using my PS5 as a 4K Blu-ray player and I’ve been impressed so far. A dedicated Blu-ray player might be slightly better but I don’t think it’s worth buying if you already have a ps5. But that’s just my opinion.

I remember when my PS2 was my first DVD player and got the Matrix and I still have that copy that it doesn't enhance the green which to me is better then the newer versions.

I think its clear the ps5 is comparable to stand alone player for HDR10. We need a video to determine if Dolby vision alone is worth the cost of stand alone player. Would love to see video on your Sony x800 m2 with DV movie vs the ps5. Show us what we are missing out on! HDR 10+ is just a non factor with the small list of movies supporting it. It's all about DV!

I have the UB420 and a PS5. I normally don't rely on my gaming consoles for watching movies, just strictly gaming. I like a lot of the fine adjustments that having a standalone player gives you over the consoles simply because the consoles are not purpose built for movies so the manufacturers are not just going to add a bunch extra stuff for you to have that premium experience for movies. But that's just me tho!!!

The ps5 adds noise reduction by default during playback, disable it if you're serious about respecting creative intent.
