I have the disc version because while streaming and downloading games is the future, I still much prefer having physical media. Plus, it's nice being able to play the older disc based PS4 games.

Having the disk version is basically having the best of both worlds💪🏼

One thing a lot of people don't consider is that with a digital version, you're essentially giving PSN a monopoly on your games purchases and so you're forced to pay whatever price PSN is currently selling the game for. Whereas with a disc version, you have endless amounts of stores you can buy physical discs from, and so you can often find whatever game you want for sale on some store or another. In my experience physical discs are often cheaper than the digital version, so you can easily make back your $100. Don't give PSN a monopoly on your games purchases, buy a disc version.

Just bought the digital version today since I'm getting less and less on buying discs. There are three main reasons for it: In my country the new game is more expensive than the digital version, and when I have to move to apartment I don't have to bring all the discs since saving up more space is a must in a tiny room. The last one is, I'm getting less and less on buying games physically - it's so easy to browse on the PS store and buy the games using my credit card.

I’ve managed to order the disc version. The biggest pro for me is, that in some shops you have great deals on somewhat ‘older’ games though that tends to be a lot less nowadays.

I bought the disc version mainly because a lot of my games library is on disc, plus other disc based media, movies and TV shows. I like having the option of being able to buy games both physically and digitally, though I do agree that streaming is the future, just not for everything.

I have the digital because I was mostly digital on my ps4. It was the natural progression for me to fully switch to digital. Also, the symmetrical look of the digital edition is better in my opinion

Thank you. I haven’t played video games in like 10 years. I felt like I wanted the cd version and you definitely cleared that up for me

I have the standard (disc) model. It's pretty satisfying playing both digital & physical games. U get the best of both worlds

I bought the one that was available, a bundle of the disc version with Horizon forbidden west. To be honest I’m glad with the disc version. I like to play campaign modes and when I’m done with the game i would like to be able to sell or trade the game.

The disc reader can definitely become problematic over years of normal wear and tear. At least thats what happened to my PS4. Digital version PS5 it is for me.

Disc is the only option for me. Especially with increased backward compatibility coming for all PS systems, where you'll probably need your disc to confirm ownership or else buy it again.

I bought the disc version because I always like to get the best model of anything I buy and I like having both options.

From my personal experience while owning PS4, I never bought / sold any disc based games, and always bought digital on sale or from PS Plus / EA Play, the only game that I had as disc was the one that came with the console bundled itself (Last of Us II), that's why I decided to go with the digital version this time. But having disc version still probably good idea if you're also like me (never use disc based game) but occasionally have the need to watch certain dvd media from certain gathering events, talk, etc (yes sometimes this is their only option) and you don't have a dvd player

i want the digital because the disc drive was obviously a last minute pitch to cater to old school players. The design looks soo much more complete on the digital

You end up saving more money by getting the physical model. I purchased Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart on disc for around £30 cheaper than the digital copy on PSN. Yes digital is convenient but you have to wait for sales if you want a game for cheap.

I went to a game store once and I was able to pick up a bundle of 5 brand new PS4 games for the equivalent of $26. Also, I bought Ni No Kuni 2 on clearance new for $4. I understand if some don't want to buy physical versions of their games but deals like the ones I got would be impossible for owners of the PS5 Digital since your only source is PSN. That's why I recommend forking the extra $100 getting the disc version.

After what seemed to be an endless effort of obtaining a PS5 by signing up through PlayStation, I finally was able to purchase one today. I purchased the disc version as I have an enormous inventory of PS4 physical games, which I prefer. I enjoy just looking at the collection and the artwork on the sleeves, and keeping them alphabetized. I feel if I can’t hold it, I don’t really own it. That’s just me. The same reason I have somewhat of a gaming console museum in my home with consoles going all the way back to the 70’s right up to the present day. I also have a coin-op arcade in my home in a dedicated arcade room, complete with a pool table.
I’m still unclear what the problem Sony is having in keeping up with demand in regards to the PS5. I had almost given up, but that drive to complete my collection is what kept me trying, and now I’m excited to have one headed my way.
