I think the rescue team is rescuing Olimar from when he crashed in Pikmin 3, and the irony could be that he was already rescued by the Koppaites

It's nice that they at lease sent someone to rescue Olimar for once instead of just leaving him to die. But with all these crashes you'd really think the astronaut guild would unionize against unsafe workplace conditions.

the addition of Character creation, the dog and the new camera angle is definitely a move to have Pikmin appeal to more people from the outside looking in.
the concept of building up your own cute Pikmin army with a dog friend and a character that is "you" will appeal to a lot of kids

I’m not too sure how I feel about customizing our own Pikmin character cuz I really liked all of the personalities of the old captains and I hope it’s not just the character saying yes or no and having others speak for them like other avatars in games. Even if they’re a silent protagonist I still hope they have the captain logs at end of day…BUT I’M STILL REALLY EXCITED AND ALREADY PREORDERED IT :D Have a good day folks and mas-salama. :]

I think, because they left Louie behind on accident, he’s pretending to be Olimar so someone would rescue him, since no one would if they knew it was him

The biggest announcement in this trailer was honestly the reveal of Olimar. I can understand that they want keep him in the main story

What I'm still desperate to know about is about the accessibility of Pikmin types. Are ice types the only new Pikmin this game? Will Rock and Flying Pikmin become "legacy" Pikmin like Purple and White and not be available at all in the main campaign? If they include all 9 Pikmin types how will that factor into numbers since you can only have 100 on the field? So many questions I desperately need answers too.

When it comes to Olimar crashing a lot, I actually remember some cool speculation years ago that I’d like to share:
Olimar is being affected by a force inspired by a Japanese yokai that sinks ships while hiding as a wave in the ocean. This force is none other than the water wraith/plasm wraith itself. It somehow has the power to pull things of interest to the planet and then chases them to have them for itself. This is why the wraith was obsessed with Olimar in 3, it’s been following him for all 3 games!
So this tells me that the wraith may be the antagonist in 4 again.
Of course this could all be bogus but I like the theory.

Olimar shouldn't NEED saving... he managed to save himself perfectly fine in Pikmin 1, and he can obviously handle danger in Pikmin 2... I don't like how Olimar crashing and needing saving is starting to become the common trend, the man should be the most competent of all the captains, yet somehow he needs saving.

I really REALLY hope we rescue Olimar FIRST and he's the one who helps us out. But from the gameplay shown in the previous trailer, I'm assuming that's not the case.

I'm so hyped for this to come out. Aro's going to have a field day with it, and rightfully so. It has the potential to be the best _Pikmin_ game yet.

Pikmin games have never had the most complex stories, but I feel like there's gotta be something more to the story than we're seeing here. Both 2 and 3 have had pivot points where the main goal sort of shifts, going from finding treasure to saving Louie and finding fruit to saving Olimar (and teaching Louie who's boss). My guess is that the main goal by the end of the game will be solving the mystery of all these crash landings. I can also easily see the Olimar signal being a trap of some sort set up by an antagonistic force to lure in more people like the rescue team and the player character. Maybe it's a Wraith crashing ships like that old Umibozu theory, maybe it's Louie trying to get snacks for his precious Dweevils, or maybe it's something entirely new! Whatever happens, I'm super looking forward to it, this series hasn't had my head spinning like this in nearly a decade, dbvdhdvbdbs

It's funny that Alro mentioned the Direct. I'd forgotten to watch this video so came directly from his analysis of the Pikmin 4 trailer from that very Direct. A Direct he was convinced wasn't gonna happen. lol

It's freaking impossible to predict what Nintendo will do sometimes...
