If you've ever let your dog drive you home when you're drunk you already knew about that not being able to distinguish red and green thing.

Yeah... because a small dog barely a foot high is a far better line of defense than a sword, or knife.

Why not toss a small rabbit, or confetti at your attacker?
Maybe invite them in for some tea, and a warm bath, while you're at it (actually... inviting them in for poisonous tea wouldn't be a bad idea).

Pekingese dogs I heard were also used in a business deal with new people. The emperor would extend their hand out to shake the persons hand, during that time if the dog felt a bad vibe from that person, they would bite their hands. Then the guards would immediately remove the bad guy and he was banished from that area, or put to death.

dogs are the best pet ever. mostly because unlike other pets they actually become an interactive part of the family rather than just passively treating you with distant detachment. *cough* cats *cough*

This was cool! Cats sweat through their paws too. Birds cannot exhale. They can only inhale. Exhalations are filtered slowly through their skin which is why it will kill a bird to give it anything carbonated. Didn't know that about canine color range tho or the barking. Recently found out wild parrots have unique *names*. Parents produce a unique call sound for each of their offspring and in turn the chicks respond to their own unique call sound. Which is pretty cool too. Makes you wonder why would you ever kill/eat/hunt something that had a natural _name_ it got from it's parents (which suggests at least some level of cultural bond among members. The study confirming this information is relatively new so it has not been conducted yet on other higher order species. My dog was a cat for Halloween last year.  She had a speaking collar that said "trick or treat", which was triggered by her sitting in front of a doorway, and nearly all the houses reacted by lending her dog food in place of candy, which they placed in a candy jar that was gently situated on her back.  Best idea ever.
