In this video, we are counting down the top 10 facts about the Boxer Dog that you might not know.

A Quick Overview:
Group: Working Dogs
Weight: 60 to 70 pounds
Height: 21 to 25 inches tall at the shoulder
Life Expectancy: 10-12 years

Boxers are large, muscular, square-headed dogs who look imposing - that is until you look into their eyes and see the mischief and joy of life reflected there. Because of their playful nature and boundless energy, they are sometimes called the "Peter Pan" of the dog breeds. Boxers aren't considered fully mature until they are three years old, meaning they have one of the longest puppyhoods in the world of dogs.

The typical Boxer is intelligent, alert, and fearless, yet friendly. They're loyal to their family and love to play with them, but they're also headstrong, especially if you try to use harsh training methods with them.

With minimal grooming needs and legendary patience and gentleness with children, Boxers are great family companions, as long as you provide them with the physical exercise and mental stimulation they need. If you're willing and able to provide them with adequate exercise in the form of walks or runs, they can even adapt to apartment living, so long as they are able to be close to their beloved people.

Boxers are renowned for their great love of and loyalty to their families. They often are distrustful of strangers at first, but will not be aggressive unless they perceive a threat to their families. Boxers are so loving that they often think they are lapdogs and try to lie as close to you as possible.

We have had Boxers for 35 years and have loved every minute. Ringo, my beautiful male, almost gave his life to save my grandsons from an attack by a buck in rut when they were playing on the edge of the woods. He lost an eye and took a horrible beating, but is coming along and healing. This hero almost gave his life and I have no doubt he would do it again.

I miss my boxer. She wasn't my pet she was my bud. I never had to discipline her, she never misbehaved badly.Very perceptive dogs, they know what's going on. Their were times I swore she understood English. Her motivated good naturedness rubbed off on me. It was my honor to be her friend from the time she was four weeks until she passed over a decade later

I have a brindle Boxer/Boston Terrier mix. She is the best ever!!!. Smart, gentle and likes everyone and all other dogs. When we go walking, other dogs bark at her, and she looks at them, and never barks back. Love her to death. Playful, loving and your description of a boxer is right on.

I tragically lost my baby boxer at 9 month old. Been 4 years since and I even grieve as I write this. Understand you are getting a commitment closer to a child than a dog. If your heart is open, they can show what love truly is to someone who hasn’t experienced true love in their life.

We had a boxer boy, he was my son’s puppy, so officially, he was my grand puppy. His name was Comrade, which means, buddy, companion, fellow soldier. We also called him Bubbas. He was playful, goofy and compassionate. He would adapt to every personality in our home. He’d play like a puppy with kids but he’d also be protective of everyone. He’d lick tears off anyone’s face who’d be going through a rough moment. So incredibly empathetic, he was like a little angel, always watching over each one of us. He died in his sleep at almost 12 years old, his heart too weak, he had given too much of himself. RIP, dear sweet Bubbas.

Boxers are just big babies. It’s so easy to hurt their feelings, always have to be sweet to them.💕

I have 3 Brindle Boxers myself. I absolutely love the breed. My grandparents always had two at a time, a male and female from the same litter. They had probably 5 different sets throughout their lives. They turned me on to them too. I’ve had a total of 6 so far. Best breed ever!

I love my boxer so much I can't even describe. He is now 9 months oldo, and it all passed so fast. I live near the beach and he's already fixed in his mind that there is no walk if it wasn't by the beach, when he digs inexistent treasure only he can smell. We named him Tuco, after the funny character played by Eli Wallach in The Good The Ugly The Bad. My Tuco is just as funny, cunning and cutely glumsy as Eli's Tuco. It takes a lot of time "educating" and taking care of him, but it is totally worth it.
