The old saying that those who can't play can teach is shot down in flames by Joe. We all knew that he could play and this tutorial shows us that he's a great teacher. His explanation of how to adjust the truss rod places a clear mental picture of the procedure in our minds. I've always like Joe he has the common touch. When he used to come to Australia and play at our local pubs and clubs he was always accessable no prima donna complex with Joe he was always prepared to chat and his cover charges were dirt cheap, $8 in the nineteen eighties was still cheap. I used to wonder how he could afford to come here and play for us for virtually nothing.

This is awesome, but how hard would it have been to just upload ONE continuous video???

It's much fun trying to find the next video in this series on a mobile phone...

Hey Joe,
You babysat one of my friends when you were going to Montclair, NJ High School back in the 60s. And you played bass in my other friend's band The King Bees in the 60s too!

I just saw Joe along with Bad Company this summer and it was epic -in an outdoor ampitheatre and get this, they had a guitar for sale with Bad Co on it signed by Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirke & I bought it - life's been good to me so far -
I have 1979 sunburst Les Paul - it rules my collection

wow serious computer users here  are reporting that " Joe Walsh"  doesn't  know how to make a guitar sound good ?        This is Joe Walsh, guitar player from The James Gang, and the Eagles.  that's him on those records.  playing guitars that He Set up  and the world loved it.

I have an Epiphone 1960 Anniversary Version 1 Les Paul (big neck) with the Gibby Burstbuckers 1 & 2 and fifties wiring, Switchcraft, etc and I will try out this method. I saw James Gang a few times in early, middle 70's and they were great. Back then tickets were $5.00 or less and there were at least 2 or 3 good bands. Recently watched some videos of Joe and he rocked with Brad Paisley and many others.

I can't believe that Joe is actually working for Gibson in the setup department. Talk about working class

I love white lp s. That is the lightest fret board I’ve seen.

As far as intonation goes, fret height at the 12th can also throw off the pitch. Press hard with high frets and your automatically sharp. There is a formula for that but I'm too stupid to remember what it is….

There is a photo of Joe on stage with the LP he offed to Page. Joe had this massive massive 3 inch thick metal belt buckle that redefined buckle rash.

Sorry Joe you cant borrow my Gibson.

Thanks Joe, or whoever put this video up! I've been playing a long time but never knew about setting the intonation. Any tips for an acoustic with no adjusters on the bridge?
Thanks! Dave the guitar guy

Thanks for the speedy reply my friend. I am not sure I understand exactly what you are suggesting. Do I actually file down the saddle cradles where the strings lay? Thanks man!

I can´t see the bend on the neck by looking at it, and the A string does not match when pressing the 12th fret and it is on the limit, any thoughts? Thanks

Joe has a guitar tech and all the help he needs. BUT he still is very capable of doing it himself. Isn't that special?

0:25 Joe, the word 'concave' was invented for a reason; it makes it easier.

You should always end up with a slight amount of back bow. on the truss rod adjustment. the twelfth fret is the octave, and like Joe Walsh said the half way point between the nut and the bridge. you can bet on Joe Walsh to shoot you straight no doubt.
