Example I just thought of; the Rolling Stone's "Gimme shelter" studio version, has a female vocal break near the middle of the song. Her voice "cracks" as she is singing. That part of the song always gives me instant goose bumps. It's so real and powerful. I believe it to be the best part of the song IMHO. If that song had been recorded today, no doubt in my mind, it would have been "fixed" in post.

An explanation from a genuine and truly great musician that few could argue with . I personally feel much better for listening to this session .

I would pay big money to listen to him read anything. Even a Denny's menu. He could make the grand slam breakfast sound like the greatest thing in the world!

this video took my understanding of the guitar to another level. I never learned so much in a short amount of time. I wish Joe Walsh would continue to share his wealth of knowledge. Thank you gibson and jJoe Walsh. Michael

I love Joe Walsh! He was an early influence for me. It's so true what he says about digital perfection.

It's the same principle behind John Bonham and his playing. It was what he didn't do, that you expected, and that sums up analog.

Bands like Rush....sure they overdub, but they write songs that can be performed live.

One good thing about digital recording. It enables those of us who cant afford "Quality analog recording equipment OR studio time" to make recordings in the comfort of our own homes.

If the people of today listened to Joe talk about this for 5 minutes, we would have a lot better music again.

Joe has revealed a lot in this series, but the secret he gives us here is one of the most important of all. Humanity is analog by its very nature. When we "digitize" music, we tend to strip away the humanity of it, and we're left with a bunch of abstract mathematical concepts that people can't really relate to. Just as there is no such thing as perfection in this universe, any attempt to synthesize music will always fall short. Attempting to please all, you end up pleasing nobody! Stay ANALOG!

I agree 100 % with what Joe is saying in this video.

Watch the video of Joe Walsh playing with Daryl Hall at Darel's House. Joe Walsh detunes the guitar during the song real fast with a machine. And it sounded good; lest I say, "radical." Like what happened to radical being positive? Radical was like especially associated with skate parks in the eighties, note, too, and that being before they replaced tennis courts, too, note, in a pattern across the U.S..

true... Joe has used "Digital" effects throughout most of his career! Luckily that hasn't effected his playing... most kids these days don't feel they have to practice because they can just fix up the mistakes in the software... Joe Walsh is Music's Chuck Norris!

Quick question, Joe: Are you going to throw your friend, the late Dan Fogelberg, under the bus yet again and keep him out of the R&R HOF?
