Rust feels like the more “real” version of Daisuke. Daisuke gives the energy of hanging out with a good friend, rust feels like meeting that same friend again but you’ve both grown a little older: things aren’t exactly the same and you’ve both experienced more of life and taken away different things, but at the end of the day you’re both still the same people, and I just think that’s beautiful

Really glad ya'll like it. It was hard for me to try and do a "sequel" to one of my own songs and fit into the context that is HLM2.

"How about you, Lieutenant? Got any plans?"

"Hmm, I'm not sure. A bar sounds nice. Anything where I don't have to carry a gun and shoot people. Maybe I'll find a little convenience store, or something. Put a little TV next to the register, just sit there all day, relaxing."

"Sounds like you've got it all planned out."

"I try not to think about it too much... Things never turn out the way you expect them to."

Beard is the true protagonist of the series.

This song just reminds me of the nightlife in major cities. It kinda gives off vibes of quietness and loneliness. It's quite soothing

Daisuke: Peace with an air of tiredness.
Rust: Peace with an air of menace.

So relaxing... The calm before the storm. A short moment of peace, like being on a cloud apart from the world.

I listened to Daisuke as I put on my tuxedo for prom, now I need to listen to this on a Hawaiian beach.

I can physically feel my pulse slowing down and muscles relaxing. Judging by how this and Daisuke are like Beard's theme music, I guess he was just a really reassuring and chill guy to be around... Jacket is a lucky bastard to have been friends with a person like that.

All of the songs that play during Beards segments of the game are all perfect. They capture that feeling of anxiety, relaxation, and horrible heat.

this sounds so much like an Adult Swim bump

"Things never turns out the way you expect them to." I understand these words more and more as the time passes by.

Late to comment but here it is: I remember when I first played Hotline Miami, I was a bit suspicious of Beard. Always there, in different jobs, suspiciously friendly, giving away free stuff, I was wondering if he had some hidden agenda or something. Then came along Wrong Number and I saw how wrong I was. He really was a nice guy.

The gunshots, thunder, and rain add something special to the song.

Grooves so hard, perfect for driving at night!

This makes me think about Beard and his platoon, in front of the beach at night, thinking about home.

This song was so perfect, it fits the tone of soldiers who just don't care anymore and want to go home more than anything.

genuinely one of my favorites songs on the soundtrack, the hard-hitting synth is always always welcome but having a break from it and hearing something unique like this is why I love the OST so much

Back in early summer, me and my family went to a beach that we'd been going to since I was little. It was an awesome place, The Australian pines gave it a nice atmosphere, and provided shade from the sun. It also had a really nice little creek running through the beach, and even if said creek was INFESTED by Cottonmouths, it was still really cool.

Anyways, when I came back to the beach this year, I found that all the pines had been cut down, and the creek had been filled in with sand. The atmosphere was totally trashed, and there was barely anything left of the original beach. As I paced the shore of the beach, this song sort of played in my head as I took in the changes. A lot was still similar, but it was still so much different from the beach that I grew up going to. Just goes to show, things change as you get older. Some changes better than others.
