Installing Arch Linux is Easy and Here's the Proof!

Installing Arch Linux is not difficult... at least not anymore thanks to the helpful archinstall script.

It is still command line based and it may not be as easy as installing Ubuntu or Mint but the script makes things a lot easier with its guided installation even if it is in the command line.

Since you must connect to the internet for installing arch, things will be a lot easier if you have the wired, ethernet network.

Otherwise, the only 'difficult' part is when you have to connect to the wifi.

The wicd command line tool for connecting to wireless network is not as straightforward and you may need some reference for the commands.

Here are the commands:

Enter the interface: iwctl
List all your wireless interfaces: device list
Select the wireless interface, scan for available network: station wlan0 scan
See the connections available: station wlan0 get-networks
Connect to your target Wi-Fi: station wlan0 connect "Name of Network/WiFi"
Enter the password and enter exit to exit the wifi setup tool.

The rest is quite clear and you can see that in the video.

Let me know if you still need some help or if you have questions.

Thank you, Sir. At first I was intimidated since I'm used to a GUI installation, now thanks to you I've made my first very first Arch Linux installation.

Excellent work Abishek!

One thing I would add is that this bare-bones installation does not include a web browser. I'd include the instructions on installing one - figured it out myself and it's dead easy. My wifi didn't work first installation, so I went through again and made sure I selected the network manager option.

My only problem on that installation is "Time Synchronization not working", should i wait for that while installing the arch linux?

Have you had good luck with your Tux laptop? They look very nice.

WOW they have changed how to install Arch a lot. I remember it being a pain in the A** to do it. This is lightyears easier. I guess it did give me experience how to read documentation and stuff installing the old way. I might give this a try, I am currently using Pop and am in love with it, however Arch is my favorite to use by far. Also, Great video, very understandable and straight forward

Voice is too low at the beginning & then recovered. I never tried Arch and maybe never will as my work environment is closely tied with Ubuntu. Funny how Google is the goto solution for testing Internet even for everybody who values privacy too much. Anyway installation seems pretty easy. And I find it very similar to Debian installer with cherry picking stuff before installing. People might run into problem if they do not have an Ethernet port on the laptop (like mine). Maybe they can purchase a dongle but still it is an unnecessary investment. Also my laptop does not have compatible wireless driver until Kernel 6.5+ which forced me to turn off secure boot and compile+install drivers from GitHub. You are on your own when the situation is that bad. My feedback on the video is to include "Manual Partitioning" as majority of the users go for dual boot with Windows.

I cant understand why People likes to work hard instead of work smart. Easy installers were here decades ago and only Sincé a couple years the pretty arch lovers became with this easy solution.

I understand that they love the flexibility of an ultra customizated linux box. I customize my setup daily but all my customizations are in the working smart gold.

Kudos to the easy installers

Love your content

it's not that hard without archinstall either, you just need to partition the disk, download the firmware and kernel then set up booting, i used grub, after which if pacman is working properly without any USB then you basically succeeded, the rest is just installing the desktop and basics, usually other distros put desktop and utilities in the iso file and give you a nice GUI installation, arch doesn't give anything than console and the ability to interact with the package manager, if you can boot arch standalone, get access to the console and pacman is working, you can install the desktop and utils yourself, this OS's most difficult part is that it doesn't give you anything more than the ability to install from the database and practically nothing else.

Unless of course when the archinstall doesn't even boot. This distro is not for me

ROFLMAO - right away we come against command lines I never heard about and have no idea how to use.

That's 'Easy' only if you know about it... and it really sucks if a Tuxedo laptop doesn't get internet from the outset!
Now do an EOs install, and also a Manjaro install - and we will vote ;)

The Traditional harder way for installing arch linux was better, 1st it gives you more knowledge, 2nd you have to struggle to download it and after all it I felt happy, and the last, only pro people like me could say-
"I use arch btw"
