You know something. Although you should of used concrete or pavers underneath each ground contact post, I appreciate you doing all the work yourself and not paying anyone to do it ! Good job!

Fantastic job. I am going to follow your model for a temporary deck until I am able to pay for a stone patio; hopefully within 2 years. OMG...I got such a chuckle when you said to make sure the string is level and put that 2' level towards the string...
Your family is amazing...you hit the lottery there. I do have some news for you--those 2 x 6 blocks will eventually sink...I do that but I put a flat block under them to spread the weight.
Doesn't matter much cuz that deck is choice and you kicked some ass on it.

Been watching a lot of deck building videos, another tip is you could've taken a top plank and laid it top to bottom in the middle and ran your other boards from outside edge to the middle board. I do like the spacing on the boards. Going to do that myself. Great video! Get yourself a helper so you don't have to run around so much...

Excellent video mate . I used the same method after watching your video. To people trying to solve the leveling problem, I just mixed some quickrete and shoved it under the unstable parts and it worked wonderful.. cheers!!

Lordy, lordy....we had a new deck installed 2 years ago. We hired it out. Had a great contractor. Used a solid PVC product. They were proud of the price of that stuff. But happy with the results.

First; Hume. That’s my mother’s family line.

Second: good effort, some of the methods could be improved for your permanent deck in the future.

General construction notes: Crowns (“rainbow” vs ”smile”) and bowing (bow at top, allowing for load/gravity correction) of boards should be checked during build. Also a small gap, up to 1/4” +\-, to ensure proper drainage of water., and since it was built next to house the deck should slope (1/8” per foot) away from foundation to avoid issues there. Where as a floating deck can be level all around.

Hope you can get a few more years out of it.

Excellent video. I had that same idea and many people told me that he was crazy. Crazy I think there are those who spend money and money and money refilling refilling refilling for a simple deck. I think the best thing is to do what you did and to reinforce some parts put cement underneath once you have the frame done before putting the final boards. Thanks for your video.

I use-blocks.. Probaby 9 .but I always use the legs as call them. As additional support. Never had a problem
