Suggestion: Use 57 stone gravel for the base...get 3/4" black iron pipe, , , lay it down and use it to screed and level the patio... so that deck base stops moving

I would recommend anchoring the pergola. I am a retired structural engineer who lived in the Lower Mainland, British Columbia, which is close to the NW. We did get strong Northerlies now and then. Just anchor the three columns into the retaining wall, and give the bolt a horizontal slip joint, not too tight, allowing for differential settlement between the deck and retaining wall. People would always complain when I requested anchorage, and I would tell them that structures are not designed for nice sunny days.) Cheers from Canada.

That is the most professional and the best easygoing deck I have seen so far!

I could recommend filling the posts off the pergola with sand. It will stiffening things up more. Nice project as always 👍🏻

Hi! I was wondering how the Deck patio is holding up. I'm thinking about purchasing this system. Thank you so much!

That is one amazing system Bret. The patio deck and the pergola. I think even I could install them. Thanks for sharing.

Love the vieos, long time watcher. If there's one phrase from you that me and my gf have taken to heart, it's "doing your due diligence at the start will pay huge dividends in the future." I use that phrase all the time now.

As others have said, this is a gimmick that wont last. There's a similar system that was sold in the uk but it was a nightmare with problems and no one sells it any more. It was designed initially for shed bases but was useless as decking support because it is like a trampoline in direct sun/hot weather and the boards expand and pop out the sub frames. The composite boards warp and pool water, then water gets trapped in the frames and because it doesn't dry out like wood, this provides the ideal conditions for algae to skin over and spread like crazy.

Looks like a great way to install decking for the home handy man. Will have a look and see if they have something similar in Australia

It’s a very cool concept but I don’t like how much flex there is in the deck system. I also question the lifetime of the plastic used in the base. The elements tend to make some plastics very brittle and weak. If you could do an update I few years down the line and let us know how it’s going that would be great.

How does it feel to walk on? Looks like it has a bit of give, I wonder if it feels "gummy" or mushy etc

Very nice product! Unfortunately I'll need a lotto win for that material.

Hi there, you've convinced us to give this system a try! We have a very long rectangle of dead space in our yard so we're wondering if staggering the planks would be better in our case - to make it more like one solid piece. Do you think this is a good or bad idea given what your experience?

I would automatically fill all that up with sand. That way it could have more of a solid base me thinking instead of a hollow space in between the same way you filled up the end.

For this particular area, what is the square footage? And approximately how many tiles and board do you need?
