Adobe Premiere troubleshooting: playback stops working - how to fix in under a minute

If you click the play button, and it won't play, but you can still scrub through your timeline, try this short fix:
Edit: Preferences: Audio Hardware: Device Class
If it says ASIO switch it to MME

i honestly didn't think this would work but it did! I didn't change the setting because it was already on mme but when I clicked ok it just started working again. Thank you :)

I changed the latency from 200 to 50 and then 200 again, it worked.

(Make sure to hit "ok" in after changing latency after 50 and after 200 aswell)

It was on MME but I clicked it on MME again anyways even though it was the only option and suddenly it started working.

The problem is, a previous video told me to switch the Clock device set back and forth to get it to work and it did that time, but no time after that.

There’s other times it wouldn’t play and that method didn’t work but suddenly I got the video to play without even knowing how.

It feels inconsistent and nonsensical. And yes I usually use headphones but they broke so I started editing by speaker. But I didn’t expect such a drastic problem…

This problem comes up way, WAYYYY too often. And I only have CoreAudio so this fix won't work for me. Preparing to talk to support who will no doubt tell me to "simply" make new sequences and copy and paste my current edits into those -- and do this with all 20 sequences. What a terrible piece of software. How do we continue to let them get away with releasing this garbage?
