Part 1 - GE dishwasher upper rack not cleaning MUST WATCH trick to seeing cause

This is your typical GE dishwasher. Beyond checking spray holes for obstructions which can cause this poor performance the water level is key for proper operation. This video shows you how to see how much water is going into the basin and also see the arms operating with the door open. This will allow you to determine whether your unit is properly filling or not. That will let you determine whether there’s a blockage or the inlet valve needs replacing.

Amazing!thank you!! I looked everywhere on you tube for two days to figure out a way to diagnose the dishes not turnjng clean. The idea of adding water was key! I have the exact same problem. will be checking the water line to make sure is not obstructed and replace the inlet valve if line is ok.

your technique of shielding the water flow was very helpful. I was finally able to determine there was not an issue with waterflow...the top arm was flowing strongly. which led me to additional (repeated) cleanding of top arm debris, as well as double-checking that the assembly was seated properly. finally I got the top arm spinning again. I also let the washer run briefly with the top arm removed, to flush any debris. but I think it was debris, namely in the underside tip-of-the-arm position (the jets that cause the arm to spin). VERY glad I didn't order/replace a pump! Thank you for this helpful video.

that's not an overflow in the left front, that's the float level. if you're not getting enough water in the tub it could be scaled /junked up.

This is awful programming. No wonder why machines aren't cleaning as well as they should be. .... There should be a trigger that says if water doesnt reach XX(XX being the sensor) by XX(60secs) time then alert user. Had this been programmed correctly, there would be an error code to alert the user ( Not enough water). Companies are getting lazy. I'm watching this because I need ideas with what's causing mine leaving food particles after every cycle. I have to rinse off my dishes as soon as the dishwasher is done or else it will dry food particles and film on the dishes.
