During the first vid, those were not “eyes”. That was in fact firelight breaking through my encampment while I was filming from the other side. Some folks originally commented on other parts of the vid where eye shine was caught, but I clearly state in the video that those were deer passing by my camp roughly 3 hours after the noise that woke me up initially. I even managed to catch some deer bleats. Now what I initially heard has puzzled me for a long time, until recently.

I poured through audio files of all kinds of local animals for a good bit after filming that video and surprisingly, the two things that came close were Sasquatch and mountain lion. Even then, I was only left with speculation and I prefer to lean towards cold hard facts. I never openly claimed either until a good friend of mine, that knows that mountain backwards and forwards, had an encounter in the same vicinity.

He came upon a mountain lion while hiking last year. This fawn colored cat about the size of a full grown German Shepard jumped out onto the trail up ahead of him by about 20-25 feet. That was enough for me. I’m fairly confident now that I heard a mountain lion that night and I know some of ya will be like “eh big deal”, but considering those cats were hunted out of this area back in the 1930’s, it’s a huge deal imho. Especially when the forestry service has denied their presence in the Cherokee national forest for years. I’m glad they are making a comeback.

I still can't fathom that most solo campers don't bring anything to defend themselves with, like a gun, knife or bear spray.

The cave guy talking as loud as he can, shining the light directly in his own face, being alone crawling in small holes inside the cave need I go on?

Not bringing any water to a dry region and planning on staying their for days is the dumbest decisions I’ve ever heard

That second guy who takes no food or water and only eats what he catches. I never knew tinned baked beans grew in the wild

Got very scared when sleeping in a tent in a campsite in Greece when me (female) and my sister heard what sounded like a man's footsteps and heavy breathing circling around our tent.

The "eyes" aren't eyes. It's the fire flickering in his camp. He's on the other side.

As a veteran Marine, I've watched videos on Recce prepping and what to do if I need to escape, or hide from, an invading force. There's often emphasis placed on learning how much noise you make when you think you're being sneaky.

These videos are a great tool to help consider more things:
Don't sleep in a way that you can't see around your sleeping spot.
Invest in thermal/ nvg instead of shining a bright light for the whole area to see you.
Don't travel (alone.) without proper self-defense measures.
Keep certain common-use tools/ items in arms reach at all times (keys, knives, safety things).

Every camping story:

1.) Random shriek
2.) Noise around tent
3.) Footprints the next day
4.) Camper runs and never finds out what caused the disturbance.

I was camping in the mountains of Colorado several years ago by myself and was awakened by something big licking the side of my tent. Got very spooked and made a loud noisy to try and scare whatever it was away. I heard it moving so I opened the door of tent and looked out with my flashlight. It was a full grown cow that free range in the area. It could have easily been a bear, but thankfully I got a good laugh out of it 😋

I don't know why people compare Chilling Scares to Mr. Nightmare. Choosing between Chilling Scares and Mr. Nightmare, is like choosing between your Mommy and Daddy.
