I once had an experience like the first story. Wasn’t a masked figure, just a man. But I had a knife on me, which I pulled out when he kept staring at me. I shouted at him and kind of faked a sprint at him. He bolted as soon as I did it. Always arm yourselves with a weapon when on walks. A pocket knife, pepper spray. Whatever you can. You may need it.

Moral of the story for all you listening. ALWAYS be armed, especially when hiking and I'm not talking about a knife. Are knives effective? Sure. But are YOU effective with a knife? Have you trained? Do you know how to manage a knife when you're within arms reach or even closer against an assailant who is hell bent on doing you harm who may ALSO be armed? Have a force multiplier so you can actually defend yourself against any sort of wild animal or psycho lurking in the shadows.

I love hiking in very remote places, it helps me with my post traumatic stress (2/5 Cav, 3rd AD.) Once in a while I run into someone. In order of frequency 1. Hunters 2. Rangers/Wardens/surveyor's 3. Military 4. CREEPERS 5. Extreme hikers/campers 6. Police/local law (probably looking for the creepers.) I consider a creeper to be someone clearly out of place, it is a subjective measurement.

What the hell goes on at night in these places?! I don't hike or camp at all. Not since I was child growing up in the Midwest. Between listening to this channel, Mr. Nightmare and Mr Ballen stories. I don't have any plans to hike or camp anytime soon. It's bad enough I drive alone doin medical transports in the middle of nowhere on a night shift. 😆
