I drink it for the bitter. The absolute darkest roast I can find, plain black with nothing. Been like this since high school, so I think it's definitely an acquired taste. I had a history teacher that'd only let me drink from my coffee thermos if I shared a cup with him, and he preferred his black. So since 14 I've taken my coffee black.

I avoid sugars as much as I can just for a health choice. And sometimes when the coffee just has cream/milk in it, it can make me feel off. So black usually.

Black coffee from carefully sourced and roasted, then subsequently brewed (freshly ground), beans tastes sensational.

It’s typically not a drink you’ll love if you’re randomly exposed to it in a coffee shop. like with cooking, you need to find a bean/roast/brew method that strikes the right balance for YOU.

Plenty of experimenting/trial & error is involved but when you finally find what you like, it’s incredible. With this said, there’s also nothing wrong with milk +sugar if you’d rather skip the trouble of dialing in your coffee.

It’s important to keep an open mind when it comes to the flavors we perceive on our subjective palettes :)

I got a story to why I drink black coffee my guy.

When I first started working for the FnB business, I got slapped for the super early morning shift as a wee 19 year old dude.

The guy who I worked with said how you’d like your coffee and I said sure I’ll take it. When I got it it black as space and tasted horrible.

What he told me was “start from here and your life will be easier” and since then I’ve been drinking black coffee for all my working/adult life.
